Historia
A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.

Revisado: 09-21-21
Great book. Not what I was expecting from a thriller purportedly about special forces. Well written, suspenseful and very well done overall.
The degree of USA flag waving hits eye-rolling levels. Yes, Dewey is an American. He and Ted Marks (sp?) love America and want to protect Americans and the American Way.
Nothing wrong with patriotism, but it pollutes paragraphs threat just don't need it.
Just my $.02.

There's a reason so many in the CIA have come out saying this is fabricated. It's unbelievable from the start. I Don't even want to waste any more time with the review.

Historia
Across the country women are being murdered by a killer who leaves no evidence, no fatal wounds, no signs of struggle, and no clues to a motive. They are, truly, perfect crimes. In fact, the only thing that links the victims is the man they all knew: Jack Reacher.

Undermined by caricature reading
Revisado: 04-07-21
Like most Reacher books, this is reliable, fun, and compelling enough for a beach read. Unfortunately, the dialogue of most FBI agents was . . . farcical. That was made SO much worse by the reader of the book - who decided that every federal agent talks like a bad 1940s movie gangster... Holy crap - level of distracting and silly.
This is my 2d time through the entire Reacher series. I obviously like it enough to come back (until the next book in The Terminal List series comes out).

But there are some in power who don't trust the pair.

Horrific asian portrayal = impossible 2 finish
Revisado: 01-16-21
Story was fine overall. Practically 2 books with the rwo completely different and divergent storylines. Neither was super compelling...
The 2d story involved North Koreans and apparently North Koreans feel the need to say your name in EVERY SENTENCE they say. OMG level of awful.
Even worse - the horrific effort at an accent sounded like Mickey Rooney in Brkfst at Tiffany's.
I tried. Had to stop in chapter 60 because I couldn't listen to one more second.

Historia
Fresh off his first mission back with the CIA, Court Gentry secures what seems like a cut-and-dried contract job: A group of expats in Paris hires him to kidnap the mistress of Syrian dictator Ahmed Azzam to get intel that could destabilize Azzam's regime. Court delivers Bianca Medina to the rebels, but his job doesn't end there. She soon reveals that she has given birth to a son, the only heir to Azzam's rule - and a potent threat to the Syrian president's powerful wife. Now, to get Bianca's cooperation, Court must bring her son out of Syria alive.

Narrator's gaffes distract
Revisado: 11-11-20
2d book with this reader. He's fine. I wonder if we don't need an editor? Director? Producer? Easy words are totally screwed. RPG becomes RGP?!? In a military book? And if you don't know how to pronounce Tanzania, look it up. Because it isn't "tan-ZAY-nia."
Overall he really is fine. But these are like nails on a chalkboard. Like finding a bunch of misspellings in a novel.

Revisado: 09-11-17
The political intrigue was as interesting as any action sequence. I loved the story.
Sadly, whenever any character was required to show the slightest emotion, the reader made them all sound like a histrionic teenager who just got dumped my their first crush.

Action scenes written by a 12 year old

McClarty is fantastic as a narrator. The story breaks down whenever our hero (or heroes - depending on the scene) MIRACULOUSLY survive something. It's like Indiana Jones and the refrigerator over and over.
