This was great! It was a fun, light, sexy listen and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I actually liked both characters (I've had issues with that lately in books I've purchased, especially issues with the heroines) and the dialogue was witty and real. I identified with the single mom angle and hoo boy did this book offer a late stage twist. I am glad that the author didn't use the twist to drive the main characters apart and that they are both adults who are capable of acting like it. The romance was sweet and the sex scenes hot. Definitely will look for more books by these authors.

I really enjoyed the book for the most part. It was fun and light and the chemistry was great. My only quibble is that Beth was kind of an awful person at points in the book. I get that her actions didn't come from a mean or malicious place but was due to insecurity and neurosis however she treated Matt so badly at times that I truly could not understand why he kept pursuing her. I guess his little brain was doing the thinking.

Why did Jeaniene Frost have to do that to my Bones? I've loved his character since book 1. I've loved Bones and Cat together. Even the events at the end of book 1 were wrapped up between them with a minimum of misunderstanding and angst. Yet I spent a large part of this book incredibly frustrated at Bones. His coldness and unwillingness to talk about his issues with Cat. His expecting her to be completely open to him and yet him being closed off to her. Even Cat was grating at times. I enjoyed Vlad, as always, so that was a bright spot. It wasn't enough to make me give up on the series though as I'm hoping this was a fluke. One issue does not ruin an entire series. Still, here's hoping the next book brings back the Bones and Cat I know and love.

This book started off really well and drew me in but as it progressed I grew more and more disenchanted with Ian. His stubborn unwillingness to listen to anybody else and his instance upon treating Molly like she couldn't make up her own mind what she wanted just grated on my nerves. He spent a good chunk of the book being a petulant, angry, whiny man-baby with a Texas sized martyr complex.

I enjoyed this entry in the series though it's become less romance and more action/fantasy. This book was a pretty thrilling listen and I have to say that the more books I listen to the less Tavia Gilbert's performance of Bones bugs me. You just get used to it and she does a really good job of differentiating between the different characters and giving them each their own distinctive voice. I felt like this book was a bit slower than previous ones, at least for the first 2/3 but then it cranked it up to 11 in the last part of the book. I will absolutely keep reading to find out what's next for Cat and Bones.

I really enjoyed this book a lot. I have always liked the character of Mencheres but he was kind of one-dimensional because we only got one aspect of him but this book really fleshed him out and I was so glad they did. I also loved Kira. It was refreshing having a kickass female character after the last book with Denise. There is a fine line between tough and courageous and just rushing willy nilly into situations with no thought or skill. This was a fun read and a great continuation of the series, plus we got more Vlad which is always a win. My only minor quibble is that Frost uses the word loins A LOT. Like a lot a lot. Still, if that's the only issue with a book then that's a win all around.

I enjoyed the story overall and I really liked Spade. He was a great character. The demonic story line was really interesting and it was great to see Bones and Cat again. My only gripe is Denise. I did not care for her character. At all. She was pretty much an idiot. She was constantly trying to martyr herself and throw herself into situations that even a child would know better. Knowing she has PTSD she would insist on going into situations that she knew would trigger it. She was just an exhausting character to listen to because I spent a good chunk of my listening time being frustrated with her.

Glad I Kept Going

I'll admit I had some reservations about continuing the series after book 1 for a couple of reasons. The first one was one it seems I shared with many others. Bone's voice. While I still think that Tavia Gilbert makes him sound like the worm in the wall from the movie Labyrinth (kids ask your parents) it seems to have slowly grown on me. I also have grown to appreciate the fact that she actually acts out the emotions on the page instead of simply reading. The second reservation was that I was hesitant to read an ongoing series like this in which it's the same main characters each book. Other series I have read have had trouble keeping that going. I will say though that I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed this book more than the first. I actually found this book more romantic and more sexy than the first and that usually isn't the case. In romance all the steam usually comes at the beginning of a relationship but this book was seriously hot. I'm glad I continued reading and look forward to book 3.

I bought this book not knowing that this was an ongoing series so the open ending was a bit of a surprise and I was less than thrilled with the way it ended. Like others, I was quite put off by the depiction of Bones' voice. I understand why she went with the Cockney accent as he was low born and a criminal but it wasn't a good Cockney accent. It wasn't quite as bad as Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins but it was up there. I have too many British relatives to not roll my eyes whenever I hear a bad English accent. On the good side, Tavia Gilbert was very good at emoting. She didn't just read, she acted out the emotions and inflections of each character and she gave each of those characters their own distinctive voices. I liked it enough to get the second book in the series but mostly because book 1 ended so abruptly that I felt a need to see what happens. I saw that this is a 7 book series and I'm not sure the story is going to be able to be carried on for that long but I'll take it book by book and see how I feel.

The narrator...I just couldn't get past it. The story is good. The writing is good but I just couldn't keep listening to the narrator. She was fine when just reading or when speaking in a female voice but her male voices were, and I can not stress this enough, HORRENDOUS. It's hard to listen to a story that's supposed to be sexy when the male protagonist, who is supposed to be masculine and intensely sexy, sounds like a prepubescent boy who is trying to do a fake grown-up voice to make himself sound older. I swear I kept expecting Dan to utter the words "I'm Batman" in a faux gravelly voice. Just awful.
