So much deeper than just a second-chance romance!

I loved Parker and Cashlynn's story so much, and the couple on the cover are perfect for how I envisioned these characters in my mind! On the surface, this is a second-chance, fake engagement romance between two people who had a one-night stand. But once you get deeper into the story, it is a beautiful tale of grief and recovery.

Parker has sworn off relationships but allowed himself to indulge in a one-night stand with a beautiful stranger he met on an airplane. They had an incredible connection, and he was flabbergasted when she bolted out of his hotel room afterward. Flash forward to a year later, and Parker is rendered speechless when Cashlynn shows up at the veterinary practice where he works, and it turns out that she his boss' daughter, and she claims they are engaged!

Parker is so stunted after the failure of his previous engagement, and he truly goes through so much growth before the end of this book. Meeting Cashlynn and falling in love with her (despite his best efforts not to!) changes him and makes him realize that he is more than the trauma of his past relationship and the guilt he's been carrying around.

Although Parker is hesitant at first (because everyone who knows him knows he has sworn off relationships), he agrees to the "engagement." Cashlynn is looking to start over her life in Carrington Cove, and with her dad on the brink of retirement, she agrees to nudge her dad in handing over the practice to Parker. As it turns out, Cashlynn is exactly what the buttoned-up Parker needs in his life. He's so regimented, and she crashes into his space and turns things upside down. Literally and figuratively. (I loved the unplugging of the appliances to get under his skin!)

These two characters balance each other so well, and I thought that Harlow James really wrote a lovely tale in Someday You Learn. Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite narrators, and I loved listening to him as Parker. He brought such depth to his performance, perfectly executing the nuances of the character's vulnerability in tender moments as well as the growly lust in the spicier scenes. Likewise, Emma Wilder was vivid in the way she portrayed Cashlynn's strength and determination as well as her frustration when it comes to her relationship with her father.

I loved how close the siblings are in this book. I jumped into this series for the first time with book 4. I wish I had gotten to know Parker in those previous books, because I feel like I really would have appreciated seeing him find love even more! I am most definitely interested in going back to read the other books in this series, and I am intrigued for Hazel's book after that teaser at the end!

Second-chance romances are my favorites, and Claire Kingsley knocked this one out of the park with Luke and Melanie's story!

As Whispers and Wildfire begins, there is the perfect hint of anger between the characters when they almost literally run into each other on the road as Melanie is returning to town to start over again after her divorce. But you can tell that the anger is covering up some bigger, deeply hidden feelings because it is clear that Luke and Melanie have not gotten over one another. Things kick up a notch between them when Melanie temporarily fills in as the receptionist at Haven Auto, adding sexual tension to the past hurts, flirty moments, sizzling sexual tension, and longing glances.

Mixed in through it all is the POV of a third character, a dangerous presence from Melanie's past. Unbeknownst to Luke or Melanie, that danger is creeping closer and closer to Melanie's present, bit by bit, and it may very well threaten everything that they are rebuilding together.

I loved this book so much. I loved how Luke embraced Hot Mess Express Melanie (seriously, as a hot mess myself, I related to her so much!), and her chaos was a soothing balm to him. I love that he connected with her voice (she's a voice actress) before even knowing who she was. I loved how they were both able to acknowledge the miscommunication that led to their breakup in high school, and how they have grown and matured in the years since. And I especially loved seeing the Baileys around town, the cameo from Brynn Miles at Salishan Cellars, and the mention of Cara and Logan at the football game.

Narrators Erin Mallon and Marcio Catalano did a wonderful job portraying Melanie and Luke. I especially loved how Erin Mallon played all of Voice Actor Melanie's different characters throughout the story. But I especially loved how Robert Hatchet (who has become one of my favorites!) just nailed the creepy antagonist in Whispers and Wildfire!

"I'm sorry I took your sun away, Little Star."

This was such a heartfelt, emotional, second-chance romance. I loved how Riggins and Stella's story unfolded in the past and present chapters, from when they were little kids to how they fell in love and then fell apart. This couple goes through so many highs and lows over the course of the book. I thought that Morgan Elizabeth beautifully handled Stella's struggles with depression and anxiety as well as Riggins's alcoholism.

At times, I grew frustrated with Stella for sticking around and not saving herself as Riggins fell deeper into his addiction. How did he not remember that they were married?!?!? I suspended disbelief and just went along with it, figuring that she had blinders on and he was really good at hiding his addiction from her. Both turned out to be true. My heart ached for these two characters, and I really could not wait to find out why he just reappeared again in her life after 7 years, how he finally found out that they were married, and what had happened that led to the miscommunication between them after his father's funeral that prevented any kind of reconciliation then.

Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder did a wonderful job in playing Riggins and Stella. They hit all the high highs and all the low lows in bringing this story to life. All My Love is full of some dark moments, but there is also a lot of healing and tender moments as Stella and Riggins piece together the past, let go of old hurts, and forge a new beginning together.

When Rowan and Chance meet at an 80s-themed New Year's Eve party and have a one-night stand, they never expect to see each other in the office of the brewery that he owns. Or that their bc failed that night, and they are now expecting a baby together.

As a single dad to a 14-year-old who can't stand him most days, Chance has enough on his plate. But he steps up big time for his new colleague/former fling and offers Rowan a place to stay when she runs out of housing options in Dragonfly Lake.

Chance is rather twisted up because of the way his first marriage ended, and while he's vowed to be there for Rowan as a co-parent, he is hesitant to get romantically involved. But the more time they spend together as housemates, the more Chance is drawn to her. And when the lines he's drawn for himself get messy one night, will he toss away the best thing that's happened to him, or take the chance that he's been given?

Sebastian York is a classic and I loved listening to him and Emma Wilder narrate this story. I also loved the friendship Rowan developed with Sam, and how having another woman to confide in around the house helped heal what was broken between Sam and her dad.

Amy Knupp is a new-to-me author, but I quite liked this story. It's part of a series with interconnected characters who make up Chance's found family. I loved the support system he had in his friends and how they immediately adopted Rowan into the fold.

Julia Jarrett is a new-to-me author; Fake The Game is the second book I've listened to of hers, and I enjoyed it just as much as the first in this series, Break The Rules.

Maverick and Sadie start out as a fake relationship for a publicity stunt to clean up his image, but there is so much more to this bad boy of baseball than what the public thinks of him! Little by little, we get to see the real Maverick underneath the facade, and the guy runs deep. I loved the vulnerability he showed with Sadie. The guy is carrying around some major trauma as a result of his childhood — and while his past ultimately impacts their relationship moving forward, it doesn't take him long to realize how good of a thing he has with Sadie and put in the work to make sure he can right the wrong he made.

Sadie gets something out of their fake relationship as well: getting her ex off her back. She grows so much during her time with Maverick, and it was wonderful to see her stand up to her slimy ex. (And I think when Maverick went all alpha on him, it was one of my favorite scenes!)

Narrators Heather Firth and Dane Anderson are not ones that I am very familiar with, but I completely got swept away listening to them. Dane's deep, growly voice was mesmerizing; I loved listening to him capture Maverick's angst, insecurities, and trust issues. Likewise, Heather did a great job in voicing Sadie's genuine care for Maverick as she got to know the man underneath the bad boy,

I am really enjoying this series! I can't wait for the next one. I received an advanced listening copy and voluntarily left a review.

Julia Jarrett is a new-to-me author, and I absolutely loved Ronan and Willow's story!

Break The Rules had me hooked from the moment Willow and Ronan met on an elevator at the airport. They were both en route to Hawaii — her for a much-needed solo vacation and him for his friend's wedding — and fate kept putting them together: in the airport, at the resort, on the hiking trail... and when Willow is forced to vacate her room but here are no others at the hotel. Ronan offers to let her stay in his suite, and that is when they finally give in to the sizzling chemistry between them. A family emergency with his daughter forces Ronan to leave without saying goodbye, but fate brings them together several months later....

Because Willow knew exactly who Ronan was, and he's now been traded to the baseball team she works for in media relations. Needless to say, Ronan is shocked to see his Cherry working for his new team. They both try to keep things completely professional between them, but the pull between them was just as strong in Vancouver as it had been in Hawaii. But as a female in a male-dominated industry, Willow has always been determined to not date a player.... Is she willing to break her rule for Ronan?

I also loved how dedicated a father Ronan was to Payton, and the sweet relationship that Willow developed with his little girl. Having been raised by a single dad herself, Willow kind of had a special place in her heart for them both, but she so easily fit into their family dynamic.

Connor Crais is a narrator I am very familiar with — I loved listening to his silky timbre. I am not as familiar with Angelina Rocca as a narrator, but I thought she did a fantastic job voicing Willow. It was so easy to get lost into this story listening to these two talented VO artists.

As with any series, there is a cast of supporting characters, and JJ dropped enough breadcrumbs about the rest of Ronan's teammates to pique my interest. I will definitely be checking out more from the Vancouver Tridents series. I received an advanced listener copy and voluntarily left a review.

I first read Falling For Finn when it was Brooke Fox's collab as writing duo Kennedy Fox; The Fall of Us was part of Kennedy Fox's Love In Isolation series. It's been rebranded with some bonus content, and this time I listened to the audio with narrators Andi Arndt and Aiden Snow.

I found that I still loved grumpy Finn and sunny Oakley in this refreshed story. From the moment they meet --- and it does NOT go well! --- to seeing how they begin to develop feelings for one another and eventually fall in love, I loved it all.

Heartbreak has hardened Finn's heart and has left him cynical and grumpy. His world is turned upside down when vibrant, energetic Oakley arrives at his family's inn to do a painting. And while they start off pretty much detesting one another, there is something about Oakley that does funny things to Finn's heart and makes it start beating once again. The banter between these two is so on-point -- brilliantly delivered by Andi and Aiden! Falling For Finn checks all the boxes to make it funny, witty, swoony, and romantic!

I fell hard for Jonah & Linnea

I loved Jonah and Linnea's story! Does it get any more forbidden than the crown prince's bodyguard/best friend secretly being in love with his charge's fiancee?

I really liked that Linnea and Jonah developed a solid friendship during their late-night kitchen talks. The chemistry between them was sizzling, and even though they each felt a strong attraction from the moment she (literally!) first walked in on him, they became great friends and tried to stave off acting on their feelings.

During a trip to the US -- during which Jonah was accompanying Linnea while she went out on dates with Torin-approved guys in order to get out of the marriage contract their grandparents had put in place decades ago -- everything changes between them. The "lessons" Jonah gives Linnea so that she knows how to flirt and date were HOT. And I loved that he seemed tortured by what he was doing, not knowing that she really wanted to be with him as much as he wanted to be with her!

Jason Clarke and Melissa Moran did a delicious job with this audio. Done in duet style, the story effortlessly flows back and forth between both narrators. I got a chill every time Jason's Jonah called Linnea "Dutchess" -- Wowza!

The timeline of Reluctantly Rogue overlaps with Reluctantly Royal -- Torin's relationship with Abigail plays into the end of this book, as part of the plan for Jonah and Linnea to be together. Having previously read Reluctantly Royal, I knew what was coming ahead, but it was great to see how it all weaves together. And then the King drops that other piece of the pact on all of them at the royal wedding... I can't wait to see what comes next!

A great enemies-to-lovers fake relationship romanc

Never Say Never was a fabulous enemies-t0-lovers story about how the one you thought you would never click with turns out to be your perfect match.

Damien and Charlotte have a long history together, as their parents were best friends and they grew up as rivals in everything school and sports-related as kids. They haven't seen each other in over a decade, even though they both moved from South Carolina to California for college and stayed in Los Angeles. In present-day LA, Charlotte is desperate for a date for her parents' vow renewal to get her mom off her back while Damien needs a girlfriend to get a leg up on a promotion he's after. When they happen to cross paths after years of not seeing each other, it's a perfect scenario for them to enter a fake relationship. Well, of course, it doesn't happen that quickly or easily, and there's some great stuff as these two hash out what it is that they need from each other in this transactional relationship.

Damien and Charlotte were wonderful characters, and I so enjoyed seeing them fall in love. She was more resistant to a relationship than he was, and I wish she'd gotten over herself sooner because they really were sweet together. I especially loved how Charlotte has believed all these years that Damien had the perfect childhood, and that was not at all the case. These two characters were really well developed, and I adored Charlotte's girlfriends in "the ladies who brunch" and the tight bond they shared.

Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite male narrators, and I loved everything he brought to the table in performing the role of Damien! Samantha Brentmoor is another great narrator, and I thought she did a fantastic job with Charlotte.

Meghan Quinn delivers another fantastic swoony, steamy, small-town book — complete with a gut-punch breakup and well-deserved HEA — in The Reason I Married Him.

Aubree is not the happy-go-lucky gal that her sister Hattie is. She is closed off and guarded, as a result of the abuse she suffered at the hands of their dad as a kid. It's hard for her to trust people, and she has a lot of lingering self-esteem issues. Jilted the night before his wedding, Wyatt (who is her late brother-in-law's brother) swoops into town to offer Aubree a deal: Marry him for a year so he can get his family's cabin, and he will sign over his part of the farm left to him by his late brother.

Wyatt knows how to press all of Aubree's buttons, and their banter is hilarious as this enemies-to-lovers romcom begins. But little by little, Wyatt breaks down Aubree's walls, and they develop a genuine friendship. It shocks Aubree when she realizes that she *gasp* likes her fake husband! But just as Wyatt and Aubree decide to give their relationship a real chance, Wyatt's past threatens to ruin any chance of their future together. Will be be able to convince Aubree that she's the one meant for him?

Narrators Aaron Shedlock and Stella Hunter are *chef's kiss* as they tell Wyatt and Aubree's story in duet narration. The story arc that these characters go on was well-written, and perfectly-paced, and Shedlock and Hunter brought it all to life magnificently as they took Wyatt and Aubree from a bickering twosome at the start of the book to a couple head over heels in love by the end.

The second book in the Almond Bay series, The Reason I Married Him also delivers several MQ Easter Eggs. I love that Wyatt's family cabin is in Canoodle, the setting of Runaway Groomsman, and I did not realize how much I missed Keiko from the teachers series until she showed up!

Is anyone else hoping that the last remaining Rowley finds his match in a certain beekeeper? Just me?
