When Mallon the Undying threatened the land years ago, the elves stopped him - and then disappeared. Now Mallon's followers seek to bring him back to finish what he started. Only the Keepers - storytellers, historians, and magic-wielders - are left to stand against them. Alaric, who betrayed everything he believed to save his wife - and still failed. Historia
Captain Kidd was one of the most notorious pirates to ever prowl the seas. But few know that Kidd had an accomplice, a behind-the-scenes player who enabled his plundering and helped him outpace his enemies. That accomplice was his wife, Sarah Kidd, a well-to-do woman whose extraordinary life is a lesson in reinvention and resourcefulness. Twice widowed by twenty-one and operating within the strictures of polite society in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century New York, Sarah secretly aided and abetted her husband, fighting alongside him against his accusers.

Narrator Sounded AI Generated

I couldn’t finish. The narrator sounded like a robot. I couldn’t return because I used a credit card to pay instead of an audible credit.

Love this book & good hearted people.
Revisado: 02-14-21
My heart goes out to those parents and children who became separated during WWII. In this story, two children found a loving home. I’m not sure that’s the reality for so many of the children back then. I surely hope so. It makes me feel so sad to think of the children who weren’t loved by their caretakers, but I truly loved this story and it’s characters. It was also an enlightenment on how things were in regards to spies back then and the need always being suspicious of potential spies.

The Human Spirit Can Endure The Unimaginable
Revisado: 07-15-20
A truly amazing account of how so many people suffered unimaginable things at the hands of the Nazis. The resilience of those who survived to go on to live productive, happy, beautiful lives is so inspiring. This story leaves me pondering and hurting for what others have endured-some living to survive and so many, many more who didn’t.

Good Story, Hard to Listen To
Revisado: 11-21-18
The story was interesting and kept me guessing, but the narration grated on my nerves. I started it once before and stopped. I only finished it because I didn’t have anything left in my library to listen to and needed to keep my mind busy.

It’s been hard for me to find a good book that is not always cursing and using language that I don’t use in my life. This book was good, clean, and enjoyable. Also, the narrator had a pleasant voice that was easy to listen to!
