Historia
Chastised by Guilliman, the Primarch Returned, and guided by a vision from the holy God-Emperor Himself, High Marshal Helbrecht is called to the ruinworld of Hevaran. Forged in the fires of the Scouring, Hevaran is sacred in its desolation, condemned never to rebuild… Yet hidden upon its barren surface is a sacred relic. Questing to reclaim it with but a few select souls to aid him, Helbrecht must trust in his skill, his wrath, and his faith as an ancient enemy returns to test him as never before.

Very much just a fluff book . It just seemed like all the energy the Black Templars had coming out of helsreach was gone. OG Papa Smurf almost seemed like he was begging helbrecht to join him and get on the team for the big win. Idk this whole book really seemed like there was no point beyond explaining why the Templars accepted the primaris upgrades (except the ones who slaughtered the ones sent to them) maybe the HH books have raised the bar too much on story, I remember how Mary su the crusade for Armageddon and conquest of Armageddon books were. Just haven’t really felt the energy or the feeling that this story needed to be told yet. I hated how Keebles did helbrect’s voice in helsreach so this narrator improved that but then Grimaldus sounded and presented like an uninteresting flat character. Whole book was a disappointment. ADB definitely writes some parts that feel weak or out of place (though I never heard grimaldus deny the emperors divinity like so many have said he did when speaking to the crone) his black Templars made a lot more sense. Different authors with inconsistent portrayals of characters makes it hard to not be pulled out when you read something . For instance Sigismund in most books seems like a flat character somewhat arrogant and unlikable but then we have the sigismund novel and man siggy has depth and is very much not the flat arrogant character anymore so when you see him elsewhere in other novels you are disappointed somewhat (decent job in Warhawk) so this novel added nothing that couldn’t be a sidebar in a codex if that.

Historia
For decades, the Navy has stood sentinel over crucial waterways, ensuring safe passage of goods from nearly all nations. The result is the longest phase of peace on the waters since the Phoenicians, with rising living standards, more (total) jobs, and the dramatic decline of poverty in Asia. But these prosperous times could be at an end. Today China is building warships at an extraordinary pace. India, Japan, Vietnam, and Europe are responding with more fighting ships. What will result from China’s rising naval might, particularly in the South China Sea?

This book was woke garbage had nothing to do with naval supremacy it was an encapsulated liberal ideology, progressive porn. Within the first hour he is praising china and then tells us the usual tropes about how it’s not the actual technology, competence or doctrine…. But Black women commanding ships women telling white men what to do is our strength. What a racist. Why does race or gender factor into anything, shouldn’t it be excellence and moral, resources and technology etc etc not the color of skin I would be appalled of some racist white guy said something similar but vice versa. It clearly has no value for anyone interested in National security. I used to believe the meritocracy that kinda existed in the military was our strength not being concerned with skin color. What do I know , being colorblind is now racist now right.
