Historia
In a profoundly strange country called Inner Horner, large enough for only one resident at a time, citizens waiting to enter the country fall under the rule of the power-hungry and tyrannical Phil, setting off a chain of injustice and mass hysteria. An Animal Farm for the 21st century, this is an incendiary political satire of unprecedented imagination, spiky humor, and cautionary appreciation for the hysteric in everyone.

For George Saunders completists
Revisado: 12-23-24
I’m a big fan of George Saunders and particularly enjoy his audiobooks, as he is an excellent narrator of his own works. So I enjoyed this, but it is definitely not one of his strongest stories, in my opinion.

Historia
Since its publication in 1996, George Saunders’ debut collection has grown in esteem from a cherished cult classic to a masterpiece of the form, inspiring an entire generation of writers along the way. In six stories and a novella, Saunders hatches an unforgettable cast of characters, each struggling to survive in an increasingly haywire world.

Essential if you’re already a fan of his work.

I’ve become a big fan of George Saunders. If you’re new to him, I would start with something else, but if you’re a fan, this is totally worth it. And no author is better at reading their own stories than he is.

Historia
After her father's sudden death, Alexandra Fuller realizes that if she is going to weather his loss, she will need to become the parts of him she misses most. So begins Travel Light, Move Fast, the unforgettable story of Tim Fuller, a self-exiled British black sheep who moved to Africa to fight in the Rhodesian War before settling as a banana farmer in Zambia. A man who preferred chaos to predictability and was more afraid of becoming bored than of getting lost, he taught his daughters to live as if everything needed to happen altogether, all at once - or not at all.

Author really brings her family alive with her narration. A well written, heartfelt memoir of a unique upbringing.

A timeless message that fits the times.
Revisado: 12-28-23
I read reviews, but rarely write them, however I’m compelled to do so for this exceptional book. I’m 60 years old reinventing my life and ready for my next act. I’ve read a lot of books… from the Stoics, to Benjamin Franklin, to Sadhguru, to Cal Newport. A lot. Now I listen to a lot of books. This is one of the best. It’s well organized, super practical, meticulously researched and, that rarest quality of all, there is actually a BOOK’S worth of material here. Actionable material, tons of inspiration, and examples that are truly relevant. The author has a well-defined message to impart that he is passionate about and that is worth hearing. Best of all, he has done the work to really deliver value to his listeners. He has earned by respect. A lot of books these days could be blog posts. This is not one of those. Lastly, Fred Sanders is an exceptional narrator. One of the absolute best I’ve listened to. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Even though it is aimed to those decades younger than myself, it has organized my mind and helped me contextualize my life and all that I’ve learned so far and shown me a path forward. Good stuff. Highly recommended.
