An engaging story about the consequences of making a bargain with the devil, and the forces of darkness vs. light.

This is a gothic horror story and romance, full of mystery, and with some terrifying moments. I had to listen to it all the way through. The city of Barcelona is also very much a character in the story. The narration is excellent.

The story is about youth gangs, government secrets, and a man who stole and committed heinous acts but who in the end, does one last act of redemption out of love. It is a typical Donna Leon Brunetti story with a relatively slow pace and many musings and observations.

Stephen Fry account of Greek myths is told with great imagination, wit,and excellent narration. I love that he also explains the origin of words coming from Greek mythical characters, and their derivatives. All in all, a most compelling book and highly recommended.

The book details comprehensively Redford’s film career, political and environmental activism, commitment to the arts, and support of independent film makers. Although we get glimpses of Redford the man, he still remains illusive. I listened to this after listening to Barbra Streisand’s autobiography, which blew me away by its depth. So it was a little difficult at first adjusting to the more removed nature of this book.

I loved this very thorough and very truthful autobiography. And the best part is that it is read by Barbra Streisand in an intimate way, as though she were in your living room talking with you. It is absorbing, fascinating, inspiring, and often funny. I wish there were an addendum with the pictures, but I suppose the bonus of the audiobook is that you get to hear some of the songs. I admire her talent, strength, resilience, courage, determination, and honesty. She has truly lived a singular life and is an exceptional human being.

I could not stop listening and finished it in two days. This is a prequel to The Cold Cold Snow, another brilliant book by Brian Freeman. The book is so well written and we are pulled in from the first sentence. It moves at a perfect pace, there are no filler pages, the plot is riveting, and the narration exceptional. The ending was unexpected and shocking. Overall, a great listen, or read. Truly wowed!

Maggie O. Farrell has this talent of pulling you into her characters’ psyche. This story about love and loss is exquisitely narrated. It is very detailed and goes into the minutia of thought processes and observations. I felt it was a little too long, but maybe the length and details were necessary in expressing Alice’s psychological state.

Although this is not my favorite Book by Maggie O’ Farrell, I still loved it. Her books are always so well-written, and with lots of details, and delving into her characters’ thought process. There is a mystery that is revealed towards the end, and it is very sad. There are two parallel stories about two women separated by fifty years that come together and are connected in a deep way, through their motherhood, love, and art. The only thing that was irritating was the very affected way the narrator played the male parts. It was almost comical.
