Historia
The infamous Dodd murders are hardly among Eastport's proudest legacies. So when bestselling true-crime author Carolyn Rathbone arrives to research the case for a new book, the locals in the seaside town let her know that she's about as welcome as a spoiled clam. But surely no one would harm a crime writer out of a sense of civic pride--or would they?

dated and coarse
Revisado: 05-19-22
disappointing. I normally like all kinds of detective and mystery fiction and grew up on 70's style television, so outdated, chauvinistic characters don't phase me. However this was a couple steps too crude and not nearly as funny as they think they are.

All ends happily, thanks to his incompetent assassins and the lucky discoveries of the bungling constable Dogberry. keeping the characters clear
Revisado: 12-09-21
Delightfully written (no surprise- lol) and marvelously well performed but unless you know the play very well, its hard to keep the characters clear during the dialogue (with no playbill to reference) Perhaps each voice actor could state their own character's name up front as an intro to tie the voice to the character so that you could recognize each of the voices better, throughout. Or include a little stage direction as to which characters are in the scene. "scene opens with Beatrice and Hero in the courtyard at don Leonardo's castle" etc. I guess its best to read the play before listening to this.

an acquired taste.

excellent plot and setting. lots of food talk which is an extra bonus if you're a gourmand like the main character. narration is an acquired taste, makes it hard to separate the book from the voice of the main character.

Historia
When Octavia Garamond passed away, she left explicit instructions in her will: The police must be present at her funeral, and the coroner should be exceptionally thorough when examining her body. Amelia Kennerly is perplexed to find herself the sole executor of her great-aunt's will, as she barely knew her. Further questions arise when the local parson is anything but happy to conduct Octavia's service. Then someone breaks into Octavia's home and tears the house apart. It seems the old lady's words may have been eerily prescient: "Hell is empty, and all the devils are here."
