Karen's soothing "Ma" voice.
Revisado: 06-04-24
The voice, I instantly knew it would be a great listen. Her voice is soothing and caring. Nice to hear she wasn't just a character on screen, but a woman facing young adulthood struggles of family, education, intimacy, relationships, alcoholism and career. Thank you for allowing us to see into your life.

Revisado: 03-01-24
The intro music is makes me laugh, you know you're going to hear something good from Indian communities. It's nice to hear not only from Native people from Arizona, it includes interviews from other Tribal folks throughout the USA that impact our communities. Aise/asqualli.

Historia
For nearly a decade, Palley has been on the frontline of fire. He has witnessed homeowners on the worst day of their lives. He’s seen puddles of aluminum where cars were once parked. He’s watched as 150-foot walls of flame cascaded down mountainsides and crashed into the Pacific Ocean. And he’s captured, time and again, the tireless commitment of firefighters as they work to save lives and homes, in terrain where fire always seems to have the upper hand.

Mr. Palley gave great first hand accounting of what a wildland firefighter goes through. Each chapter was very insightful. Thank you for being respectful to the lives lost, their families and to what the mind-set is for each USFS personnel may go through. Well done.

Interesting listen on how law enforcement was back in the day. Sadly, there were hundreds if not, thousands of unsolved murders gone undocumented until today's time. Great narration and story of the Osage Nation.

Historia
In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their new home on suburban Long Island. George and Kathleen Lutz knew that, one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters in the house, but the property - complete with boathouse and swimming pool - and the price were too good to pass up. This is the shocking true story of an American dream that turned into a nightmare beyond imagining for the Lutz family, who were forced to flee their new home in terror.

Spirits are real
Revisado: 10-20-21
As a Tribal member, I wonder if any Native American spiritual leaders have entered this house to bless it? It appears they (the spirits) need to be escorted out via their own people, if that makes sense. Sometimes Christianity isnt the answer.

In 1978, Laurie Strode survived an encounter with Michael Myers, a masked figure who killed her friends and terrorized the town of Haddonfield, Illinois, on Halloween night. Myers was later gunned down, apprehended, and committed to Smith's Grove State Hospital. For forty years, memories of that nightmarish ordeal have haunted Laurie and now Myers is back once again on Halloween, having escaped a routine transfer, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake.

Historia
The true story behind the events that inspired the major motion picture Only the Brave. A "unique and bracing" (Booklist) first-person account by the sole survivor of Arizona's disastrous 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire, which took the lives of 19 "hotshots" - firefighters trained specifically to battle wildfires. Brendan McDonough was on the verge of becoming a hopeless, inveterate heroin addict when he, for the sake of his young daughter, decided to turn his life around. He enlisted in the Granite Mountain Hotshots, a team of elite firefighters based in Prescott, Arizona.

Historia
Baffled by the stereotypes presented by Hollywood and much historical fiction, many other Americans find the contemporary American Indian an enigma. Compounding their confusion is the highly publicized struggle of the contemporary Indian for self-determination, lost land, cultural preservation, and fundamental human rights - a struggle dramatized both by public acts of protest and by precedent-setting legal actions. American Indians, American Justice explores the complexities of the present Indian situation, particularly with regard to legal and political rights.

"Indians are people too"
Revisado: 08-22-21
As an American Indian, this was a very interesting read. People still believe that we live in a teepee as seen in movies. Working in law enforcement, I see how the law works for or does not apply in certain Tribes/villages. This was interesting and I recommend an updated text regarding the recent land give back" to the Oklahoma Indians. Thank you!
