I was so worried that I'd be disappointed, since there was no way to top Pillars of the Earth.
Fear not, this book does not disappoint in any way.
I love John Lee's narration, and Ken Follett gave him such a terrific book to read to us!
I swear to god though, if he put one more impediment in the main characters way, I was going to box his ears.
Damn this was a good book, BRAVO!

Very enjoyable story, and two of the best narrators of all time.
Well done guys, can't wait for the next in the series!

What a terrific romp!

Pure, unabashed fun.
I enjoyed this book from start to finish, and the narrator was flawless.
Someone really did their job well in choosing the perfect voice for this book.
The funny thing is, I'm more than fed up with all the Goth crap that's all the rage, including vampires and werewolves.
This series should not be painted with the same brush, nor categorized in the same genre.
Well done Charlie Huston and Scott Brick...well done indeed.

I really enjoyed Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything", including the narrator.
It was with delight that I noticed this book from the same author, and clicked on it without hesitation.
I'm not sure why the author decided to narrate his own book, but he really should have paid someone like Richard Matthews (narrator of his previous book) to do the honors.
The material was vaguely interesting, with a few good insights; it was nowhere near as strong or entertaining as A Short History.
Sorry Bill, I don't enjoy writing a bad review, but I definitely don't feel I got my money's worth here.
You can do much better than this offering...and next time, hire a pro to read it for us.

Good pace, nice character development, and well crafted plot.
The setting is quite interesting, and the main character a gem.
Very satisfying conclusion, with just enough surprise to leave the reader with an "Oh of course!".
