Historia
Young Cally is an apprentice within the most unusual order of sorcerers in the known world: the only one that forbids its members from using their powers to kill. Despite his lowly status, Cally's chosen by the Master of the Order to join a delegation to see their allies the Lannovians. The meeting will be historic: 60 years ago, the Order's enemies attacked them with a host of demons, forcing the Order to trap the monsters inside their own citadel and seal it shut with impenetrable wards. The trick worked so well the Order hasn't been able to get it back open since.

"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Slow Moving Vapid Trash
Revisado: 11-27-19
I read a lot of books. I look for books that have strong female characters, and I had hoped that this one would deliver. Instead you get a book full of incredibly indecisive female characters and a plot that takes forever to get going. I wonder if the author has actually read any books or if they based the entire world on World of Warcraft. I do not recommend reading this book.

Historia
A century ago, the Sentience Wars tore the galaxy apart and nearly ended the entire concept of intelligent space-faring life. In the aftermath, a curious tradition was invented - something to cheer up everyone who was left and bring the shattered worlds together in the spirit of peace, unity, and understanding. Once every cycle, the civilizations gather for the Metagalactic Grand Prix - part gladiatorial contest, part beauty pageant, part concert extravaganza, and part continuation of the wars of the past.

With charming characters that are easy to care about and a clever plot twist to keep you guessing, this second novel is in many ways better than the first.

Historia
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Very enjoyable tale in the style of a Rick Riordan but without the tween nonsense. The main character is a little like Harry Dresden but it works.

Once the toast of good society in Victoria's England, the extraordinary conjurer Edward Moon no longer commands the respect that he did in earlier times. Still, each night he returns to the stage of his theater to amaze his devoted, albeit dwindling, audience, aided by his partner, the Somnambulist - a silent, hairless, hulking giant who, when stabbed, does not bleed. But these are strange, strange times in England, with the oddest of sorts prowling London's dank underbelly.

Fun Writing - Story only Okay
Revisado: 01-20-17
Stylistically speaking, this was fantastic. The story was just kinda slow and random. I didn't feel like the protagonist was clear and I felt like the title character was an unexplained extra.

Missing an Afterward
Revisado: 01-12-17
My only complaint with this lovely historical fiction, is that there is no afterward from the author. What I would like to see is some historical references as well as some historical resolution for some of the children of William Marshall. All in all, this is a lovely book and I highly recommend it.
