Historia
Sussex, 1881. Lady Helena Scott-De Quincy's marriage to Sir Justin Whitcombe, three years before, gave new purpose to a life almost destroyed by the death of Lady Helena's first love. After all, shouldn't the preoccupations of a wife and hostess be sufficient to fulfill any aristocratic female's dreams? Such a shame their union wasn't blessed by children...but Lady Helena is content with her quiet country life until Sir Justin is found dead in the river overlooked by their grand baroque mansion.

The narrator of this book is really good. Great at doing different voices and excellent at voice inflection. Too bad the book is boring.

I loved this book! The story was wonderful and the narration outstanding! I just wish I didn’t know the story of Jane Eyre so well, I found myself knowing what was coming next. The ending was way better than Jane Eyre though!

I just discovered this author and I’m so glad I did! This story is so well written and has everything I love in a good book. I’m looking forward to reading all of Kasey Stockton’s historical romances in hopes that they are as sweet as this one. Or, I may listen to the audio as I did this one because the narrator is outstanding! She is one of the best I’ve had the pleasure of hearing. Her performance was flawless!

Disappointed
Revisado: 07-19-21
Boring. Never thought I’d say that about a Nicolas Sparks book. I got a few chapters in and wanted to shelve it. And the audio book it absolutely awful. The narrator is an amateur. Apparently an editor is non exist because there are a dozen times the same sentence was repeated. And why would they choose a female to narrate a book from a male’s perspective? In addition, she has no different voices for different characters, it’s like she is just reading the book, not narrating it. You would think a Nicolas Sparks book would warrant a professional like the narrator that did all the outlander books. Pathetic.
