a captivating story
Revisado: 12-30-18
Definitely kept me interested. while I would not necessarily categorize this as a romance, the main character sure does have a convoluted love life. and while I am still not thrilled with the losses in the prequel, I can see where the insight comes in handy. can't wait to see what comes next.

a love/hate relationship
Revisado: 12-22-18
not only is this a common theme for this story but it is how I felt about this book/set of stories. I have been waiting to start the series and was excited based on the reccomendations I got. i started with this prequel and was sucked into the characters. which is part of where my problem lies. I am soooo upset by the last story.
while I assume that the author had a point in me becoming invested in the story of these characters, I can not help but being saddened by the way things transpired. I can only hope that somewhere along the way they bring me invaluable insight into the story, because right now I just feel that I wasted my time investing my self in the character(s) of this story.
my overly dramatic/emotional response aside I think the author and narrator did a great job bringing the characters/world to life. for a set of 5 separate stories the flowed together beautifully creating a cohesive book.

slowly drew me in
Revisado: 07-21-18
I listened to the audio version of this book. It did take me a bit to fully get into the book, at least to the point where I had to know what happened next. But by the end it had me immediately grabbing the next book.
This book balances the ability to bnb lose yourself in a fantasy world, with making you think about real issues.

gotta read the fine print

I like the book. I listened to it on audible.
Interesting story line. The only thing is that I might have liked it even more if I had realized that it was the second book. It might have made a bit more sense if I had started with the first one.

feel good story
Revisado: 05-18-18
Another book I listened to on audible.
This was one of those easy going books that just left me feeling good.
I thought the character development was really good. The relationship between the main characters built naturally and sucked you into their story.
No crazy plot twist or major angst or intrigue, but an overall nice story.

mixed feelings
Revisado: 05-18-18
I am a bit torn about this book. I think the story line was really sweet and drew me in enough that it had me wanting to know what happened with the characters. Yet at the same time some of it felt way off. At one point the characters were apart for what they made seem like weeks, but when you follow the story line it couldn't be more than a week. And there were parts that just felt like it should have been more developed to be where it was at.
Overall it is one of those first in a series that leaves me curious as to what happens next but not rushing to buy the next book.
I will also say that the format I used for this book was the audible version, and I felt it was well read.

When you can't even trust yourself
Revisado: 07-10-17
I borrowed this book for free on Prime Reading and listened to the audio version. The author did a great job of drawing you into the main character's story. what do you do when you wake up in danger and don't remember how you got there. when you don't know who to trust, including your own memory. the struggle for the truth draws you in and leaves you waiting to see what is next.
