Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Nothing new here but it was entertaining
Revisado: 11-16-21
The plot of this book has certainly been done before. Girl who has no idea how attractive she is gets mistaken for <insert celebrity, royalty, insanely rich person her> and is reluctantly thrust into a life of money and fame. Throw in a few incredibly unlikely coincidences for spice and end with happily ever after. I’m spite of all that, this book was entertaining and not badly written. The narration was good and made the story more interesting. I think anyone who enjoys light hearted romance novels would enjoy this book.

I wish I could give the performance 6 stars. Everything about the series is superb but actors really make it.

An enjoyable journey
Revisado: 02-22-21
This is the second book I have read by this author and both books were excellent. This book takes you on a journey of coping with tragedy and grief and actively choosing what kind of person you want to be. Books of this type can often be overly dramatic or emotional with unrealistic outcomes but the author has navigated this territory so well that the book feels natural. I felt like I went through this experience with Anton. I felt like I was a better person after reading the book. The book was an experience where the characters go through a transformation and maybe the reader does to.

Historia
Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap out of the audio, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy. Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse.

Fun. Not art, very gory, but 100% fun.

Maybe just doesn’t work well as audio book?
Revisado: 02-22-21
I really wanted to like this book. The concept and plot seemed like they would make for a compelling story. Unfortunately, this the only book I have decided not to finish on audible. I just couldn’t get into it. I thought maybe it just had a slow start so I gave it some more time but it didn’t get better. I was at least an hour in before I realized the main character had taken a vow of silence. That’s confusing when the main character is also the narrator. I think this might be easier to follow when read in print.
