Cross between doctor who and nightvale
Revisado: 12-12-24
This first episode especially just feels very much like a cross between doctor who and nightvale. I don't know what the one review about cursing God was on about...is it because it involves heavy science and history? But there was definitely not anything really cursing God. As a former Jehovah's witness, it definitely would be fairly acceptable for anyone who also believes in science. Some cigarette usage is mentioned and small amounts of strong language. Overall, probably the equivalent of PG-13.
I would also just make a note of sound quality. The couple on the radio are a little hard to understand. I acknowledge that it might be slightly done on purpose as it is definitely supposed to be an older radio style sound for their characters, however it does make it a struggle to make out some individual words.
Finally, the character introductions were very well done in a first episode. Excited to continue the journey of the midnight burger diner!

She said yes to Morelli. She said yes to Ranger. Now Stephanie Plum has two fiancés and no idea what to do about it. But the way things are going, she might not live long enough to marry anyone. While Stephanie stalls for time, she buries herself in her work as a bounty hunter, tracking down an unusually varied assortment of fugitives from justice. There’s Eugene Fleck, a seemingly sweet online influencer who might also be YouTube star Robin Hoodie, masked hero to the homeless, who hijacks delivery trucks and distributes their contents to the needy.

Appreciate the feature of dogs in this one. Not as spicy as some of the earlier ones and not enough about the wedding.....or wedding night. I appreciate that this series has continued as it is one that I enjoyed with my mother. please continue to put out stephanie plum novels!

Historia
In the town of Night Vale, there’s a faceless old woman who secretly lives in everyone’s home, but no one knows how she got there or where she came from...until now. Told in a series of eerie flashbacks, the story of The Faceless Old Woman goes back centuries to reveal an initially blissful and then tragic childhood on a Mediterranean Estate in the early 19th century, her rise in the criminal underworld of Europe, a nautical adventure with a mysterious organization of smugglers, her plot for revenge on the ones who betrayed her, and ultimately her death and its aftermath.

So slow....not the nightvale you're used to
Revisado: 10-07-24
it was such a long revenge story....there weren't many surprises or really any depth added to the faceless old woman. honestly feel like it could have been an hour long special and that would have been a great summary of her backstory. it took me 6 times of going back to this story to finish it. I was determined as a fan of the podcast series, but woof...maybe this should have ended up in the dog park.

So slow, both storyline and narration
Revisado: 02-04-24
starting this series bc it's my partner's favorite series. I found the story to be very slow. Have read better shape-shifting novels and with better romance. the world building wad very meh. my partner has said I will probably like the last book in the series the best.
This would never be a book I would recommend. I thought the narration was so slow. not enough action, too many emotions that didn't actually go anywhere.
As someone who had been groomed, this book made me furious at the whole Bennet family. literally ox is the only decent character in the whole thing and even he is not that relatable.

Historia
Over a decade has passed since the queen of the Colony began her apocalyptic war with the humans. In the aftermath, she leaves behind a strange legacy: a race of uplifted animals, the queen’s conscripts in the war effort, now trying to make their way in the world they destroyed. While the conflict has left deep scars, it has also allowed both sides to demonstrate feats of courage and compassion that were never possible before. And now, after years of bloodshed, the survivors have a fleeting chance to build a lasting peace.

Decent ending
Revisado: 10-21-23
After struggling through the 2nd book in the series, was happy to find the last book was worth it. Definitely feel that the 2nd book was unnecessary for the basically the whole series. Could have skipped that and just went to the stuff in this one. Worth finishing the series

Worth the listen!
Revisado: 06-27-23
absolutely enjoyed almost every minute of it. will be looking for more narrated by this particular one. one complaint is when there is a part where they are talking in masks, they make it sound muffled and was very hard to understand. otherwise, no complaints. highly recommend!

Rated R
Revisado: 02-08-23
high adult content...lots of gore and "sex" (non-consensual) basically every chapter. I disagree with one review here who said it was like 4 different stories...not certain if they've read stories that choose to focus on separate people at the same time. but there is definitely character overlap and interactions.
still worth time to listen to as even my partner got caught up in it and just kept wanting to know what terrible thing was going to happen next.

excellent cast wasted on mediocre story
Revisado: 01-21-23
the premise was certainly intriguing and the performance was on point for the characters. that being said, there was no substance to the characters and not a very suspenseful story. the dog barking for sound effects drove me nuts...like we get that you guys are dog catchers. the lack of build up was annoying and the conclusion is definitely not worth the 2 hours of my life I won't get back.
