Historia
As children, Sam and Elli were two halves of a perfect whole: gorgeous identical twins whose parents sometimes couldn’t even tell them apart. They fell asleep to the sound of each other’s breath at night, holding hands in the dark. And once Hollywood discovered them, they became B-list child TV stars, often inhabiting the same role. But as adults, their lives have splintered. After leaving acting, Elli reinvented herself as the perfect homemaker: married to a real estate lawyer, living in a house just blocks from the beach.

Great storyline and book

A really great listen. The ending goes by quickly, but it is a great story.

Historia
A mazy dribble through the recent history of European soccer, showing how shifting styles and influence have shaped the game. In the early 1990s, the Dutch footballing philosophy was worshiped across the continent. Then the baton passed to the Italians, who clearly boasted Europe's strongest league. But when France started winning everything at international level its national academy became the template for others, until suddenly, almost out of nowhere, Europe's most revered player and manager both hailed from Portugal.

Great!
Revisado: 01-13-23
Great read. After, I bought the hard-copy to have on hand to take notes and look back on. I got it for 2 other people as well. In all, if you are committed, listen to it first here, and then buy the hard-copy.

Worth the read
Revisado: 01-13-23
It was a good book to listen to while doing things around the house. The jump from character to character without a heading or notice was hard to follow at first. The ending did not tie up as many plot lines as I had hoped, but it was basically understood. Lots of stories and characters. Overall, worth it.

Historia
Little River, New York, 1994: April Sawicki is living in a motorless motorhome that her father won in a poker game. Failing out of school, picking up shifts at a local diner, she’s left fending for herself in a town where she’s never quite felt at home. When she “borrows” her neighbor’s car to perform at an open mic night, she realizes her life could be much bigger than where she came from. After a fight with her dad, April packs her stuff and leaves for good, setting off on a journey to find a life that’s all hers.

Character is full of hypocrisy (spoilers)
Revisado: 12-07-21
While the author and reader did a great job and the concept of the story is generally something I am interested in, I did not like the main character. Whether it is the author's intention for me to feel this way, or not, I do not know. April goes along her life abandoning everyone and never faces her issues, yet judges everyone else for theirs, and wants them to feel sorry for her. She is selfish and wallows in self-pity. The biggest turn-away for me was why she left Adam - how much trouble he could have gotten in if her age was revealed. That bothered me the entire book, and ruined it for me. Not recommended.

Historia
Eva - known to all as Lovey - grew up safe and secure in Oxford, Mississippi, surrounded by a rich literary history and her mother's stunning flower gardens. But a shed fire, and the injuries that it caused, seemed to change everything...especially when her older sister, Bitsy, blamed Lovey for the irreparable damage. Bitsy became the cheerleader. The homecoming queen. All the while, Lovey served as the family scapegoat, always bearing the brunt when Bitsy threw blame her way. At 18, Lovey fled to Arizona. In time, she became a successful advertising executive....

I don't like writing bad reviews...
Revisado: 02-19-21
I admire writers who publish their work and put their imagination out in to the world, so I question myself when I don't like a book. I tried and tried with this one-I got about 7 hours in, and then suddenly stopped what I was doing and realized that I don't have to suffer through a bad book just to protect the feelings of the author.
This is a terrible read. It is a long, drawn-out story that could be a simple essay. The voices are obnoxious and the story line is covered in mud that bogs the entire book down.
Not much else to say-do not recommend, and glad I downloaded it for free..

Loose end
Revisado: 12-21-20
Wonderful book, highly recommended, but the ending left so many unanswered questions. Which I guess is symbolic itself. Highly recommend
