Historia
Rain slicked streets, riots, murder, chaos. It’s July 1992 and the Troubles in Northern Ireland are still grinding on after twenty-five apocalyptic years. Detective Inspector Sean Duffy got his family safely over the water to Scotland, to “Shortbread Land”. Duffy’s a part-timer now, only returning to Belfast six days a month to get his pension. It’s an easy gig, if he can keep his head down.

Compelling
Revisado: 03-11-25
I’ve loved all of the Duffy books so far. The characters are relatable and realistic and it’s written in a way that simulates the main character’s thoughts. I think it’s great, a solid book for sure. I hope there’s at least one more on the horizon!

Fantastic!
Revisado: 09-18-22
I have loved the entire series. The narration makes it for me as Robert Glenister delivers a phenomenal performance every time. There are some instances of particularly graphic content but it's never overdone. the characters are compelling, the story is captivating, and the performance is fantastic. If you like gritty murder mysteries this is an absolute must.

Incredible finale to an engaging series. I had chills! The concept was original and the characters were believable. It's a tragedy that helps you glide to the finish with updrafts of hope, countered by humility, landing softly in the embrace of humanity. Excellent series.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Pretty Good
Revisado: 10-01-19
Over all the story was good. I feel that the narrator lacked in his performance in the respect that he would carry on in character voices when near rating neutral information. As far as the plot is concerned, there was a lot of build-up and excitement, but a relatively bland resolution. The novel appears to be geared more toward a younger audience although there is some violent . I would recommend it for a casual listener.

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

Narration Issues
Revisado: 04-24-19
I personally feel that the success of an audiobook hinges on the quality of the narrator and this book failed in that regard. The narrator's voice is grating and unpleasant and it impedes any ability to immerse oneself into the story.
I feel guilty criticizing someone's voice, but a better narrator may have improved the experience here. I couldn't even finish the story (which seemed choppy and cliche anyway).

Awful
Revisado: 01-07-19
Without giving anything away, the book was terrible. It failed to deliver and it dragged on. Essentially a slow and painful death for a once hopeful book.
It's almost as if the author had this incredible idea and then realized he was dragging out the torture of a promising story, then decided to mercifully kill it.
In short, there was a lot of build-up and no follow-through.
