The BEST Elvis Love Story
Revisado: 01-03-25
June wrote the most beautiful bittersweet account of her time with Elvis. Her book is unmatched when it comes to writing and genuine storytelling about a sweet young Elvis. This captivating love story was just too short, we need more Elvis and June! This is the girl Elvis should have married!! The narrator does an excellent job of telling the story, she doesn’t pronounce Biloxi correctly, but that’s okay most listeners won’t know the difference. This is the best Elvis book out there.

Historia
In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

Lies Lisa shared as truth from debunked rumors.
Revisado: 10-09-24
Such a sad book for Elvis. Lisa was ugly about everyone Elvis loved… his beloved mama Gladys, Vernon, Ginger, even Priscilla. As an Elvis fan I have lost all respect for Lisa and Riley, the book was thrown together, choppy and highly disturbing. The best part was where some tapes of Lisa played and Riley talked in parts and then Julia narrated. It could have been excellent, but it was just sad and disappointing. As always they continue to live off Elvis. Riley should apologize to the Beaulieu family and Ginger Alden, and any of the other families who were hurt by Lisa’s words that Riley published without warning the others of so much meanness.

Historia
Destined to Die Young is the definitive examination of why the world lost Elvis Presley on August 16, 1977, when he was only 42 years old. Author Sally Hoedel has painstakingly researched the subject and offers factual and scientific data—plus never-before-published information she gained by interviewing people who personally knew Elvis—to support her claim that Elvis Presley was never going to live a long life.

I had high hopes for this book and was really looking forward to reading something accurate about Elvis. Well what a let down! It’s the same stories we’ve heard a 100 times over, including so many that have been proven false. Is it too much to ask that an author cross reference and do a little research before putting false rumors in print? On top of the terrible writing… the narrating was just as bad. The author read her book, which sometimes works well for people like Ginger, Priscilla, and even Anita’s daughter, but this author read it like she was in a high school speed reading contest, never have I ever had to slow an audible book down, until this one! usually I speed them up. It’s just overall bad. If you’ve read any Elvis books that Priscilla’s entourage puts out then you’ve read everything in this one. It’s definitely influenced by the pro Priscilla crowd. If you were hopeful for some medical insights, aside from a genealogy report on Elvis’s ancestors you won’t get much out of this. Disappointed I spent money on this.

On a lazy Sunday in 1954, 12-year-old Jerry Schilling wandered into a Memphis touch-football game, only to discover that his team was quarterbacked by a 19-year-old Elvis Presley, the local teen whose first record, That's All Right, had just debuted on Memphis radio. The two became fast friends, even as Elvis turned into the world's biggest star.

Reads like Priscilla wrote it.

It was a solid 2 stars before I got to the end where Jerry talks about how much he liked the Colonel, I would sure hate for Jerry to like me if that’s how he treats people he likes, as he was a consultant on the Elvis movie that made Colonel Parker look terrible.
The rest of the book reminded me of Linda Thompson’s book where she tries to make herself look like a saint the entire time. Jerry follows the same pattern, and for some reason (did Priscilla pay his publisher too?) he inserts Priscilla throughout the book where she just doesn’t fit, I guess so he can also help paint her as a Saint.
Is it too much to ask for just a plain old honest book that doesn’t have an agenda?

Historia
Elvis Presley is a giant figure in American popular culture, a man whose talent and fame were matched only by his later excesses and tragic end. A godlike entity in the history of rock and roll, this twentieth-century icon with a dazzling voice blended gospel and rhythm and blues with country to create a completely new kind of music and new way of expressing male sexuality, which blew the doors off a staid and repressed 1950s America. In Being Elvis, veteran rock journalist Ray Connolly takes a fresh look at the career of the world's most loved singer.

Lies.
Revisado: 03-11-24
What I liked: The narrator did a good job.
What I disliked. All of it. It’s a shame people repeat the same old debunked lies after all these years. Don’t waste your time on this one. Read June Jaunico’s, and Anita Wood’s daughter’s book for early Elvis, and Ginger Alden’s book about his last year. Those tell a much more accurate and entertaining story. This one is full of the same old lies that have been proven false time and time again.

So disappointed in this book.
Revisado: 12-12-22
After watching the Elvis movie I wanted to find out the truth about Elvis. Well the truth is not in this book. Priscilla has done a remarkable job of rewriting history to erase any other women in Elvis’ life. As most don’t realize she is the EX wife. Through researching the most accurate sources it’s shocking to discover how Priscilla has lied and changed the truth to her own false version. The facts are that at the time Elvis passed he was in love and engaged to Ginger Alden and planning to have more children. Not depressed as Priscilla would have her readers believe.
I believe Ginger Alden’s book to be the most accurate book on Elvis at the end of his life, and June Jaunico’s book is a sweet story of young Elvis. Priscilla’s book is unfortunately fake news.
