I like the story but

I would have preferred a little more character development. I enjoyed the story, but I felt like some things were missing because it moved fast and the characters were pieces of a hole instead of driving the story- the male characters had potential to be dynamic but I still get the names mixed up. I like the author and we'll definitely read the next book, but I'm going to hold off before I buy the audiobook too.

Slow plot but realistic character growth

I understand the other reviews talking about the "I'm ready now / nope, not yet" back and forth Jess does is a huge part of this book and can be distracting, but if you think about it she's in the "teenage" phase of relationships- she finally wants to be with a man, but has no idea what to do and when. She also doesn't have any coping skills for flashes and triggers. I feel like this is a character building book, with limited plot action or suspense. She's working on trusting herself and her relationships and it's not the most exciting part but I think that's what makes Jess seem real.

I will defiantly listen to the next book and still recommend this series.

Interesting story with a twist

For some authors it seems hard to make a fictional character 'human' to the point you can commiserate with them, especially when the character is a fictional species. Having characters empathize over similar painful losses takes the mythical and makes them relatable. I didn't feel like I was listening to sci-fi or fantasy- I was listening to a story about a person's life. Add in the different types of mythical creatures you don't normally see in many fantasy books and it keeps you on your toes!

The narrator was good, but there were a few words/pronunciations that were a little painful to listen to... like listening to someone speaking a foreign language badly. Not enough to detract from the story, but enough to distract me.

I would recommend the book and look forward to listening to the 2nd book.

Great story okay naration

I love the story, but the narration detracted from the story. A very "American" French Accent was difficult to listen to. The story is different enough that it doesn't blend in with other fictional romance stories. Unique and enjoyable

Cut short, not a fan of the rushed ending

I enjoyed the beginning of the book with the details and the banter, the middle of the book is all right, but I feel the end was rushed to clean up loose ends and finish the book. Not as much detail, there is no connection with the main characters, and the dramatic scene didn't have me engaged.

I feel this could have been made into two books- I wanted more details and I wanted to know what happens next.

Love the narration and I plan on listening to the next book, just disappointed in the ending.

Interesting, but a bit...

I found the story interesting, and I love Vanessa Moyen, but the story felt too rushed and there wasn't a lot of character development at the beginning. I also found all of the hashtag comments to be a little too much, but I'm not an Instagram follower so that could be why. I still really like Jaymin Eve's work and I'm looking forward to book 2, but I'll probably read it before I think about buying the audio.

Not an action, insta-love kinda book

This is a slow burn story where the characters don't fall in love/lust right away. It also is not a fast paced action story. More like an early YA magical detective with potential to grow. I was intrigued by the blurb on Amazon but did not have high expectations.

After listening, I am interested in the characters possibilities and will definitely listen/read the next book in the series to find out what happens.

Witch's Bite box set

The story was interesting and different, but I struggled with the speech pattern. The William Shatner version of Captain Kirk way of speaking was very distracting, and I almost gave up a few times, but the story was interesting enough that I wanted to find out how the story ended.
