Historia
Cole Blackwater's life isn't what it used to be. Once a political superstar within Ottawa's environmental movement, he now runs a nearly defunct conservation strategy consulting firm that distinctly lacks a paying client. His ex-wife loathes him for a scandalous affair that ended their marriage, he feels he's failing his eight-year-old daughter as a father, and he's turning far too often to the bottle to solve his problems.

Historia
When single mother Darcy’s son falls from a rope bridge at a local playground, life stands still. She clutches his small, limp body, frozen, until a pair of strong hands push her aside, and she watches as George, a local doctor, saves her son’s life. George, with his twinkling hazel eyes, easy charm and lack of wedding band is almost too good to be true, but coffee becomes lunch, lunch becomes dinner, and soon they can’t go an evening without seeing each other.

Not my typical action/murder, plot, but a nice story that gets into the hearts and souls of family with a couple interesting side plots

Nice digression
Revisado: 01-20-23
This is not the kind of story I typically listen to, but it was a nice digression. I liked how the characters were able to wake each other up as to their professional and personal goals and desires alongside the storyline of lawyers and Rockstars

Nice digression

I didn’t know this author but the story, characters and overall performance were great. It was nice to mix in some science to a good adventure/spy story.

My husband was not a monster. No matter what they say.... The day my husband, Michael, stepped in front of a lorry after being questioned by the police, my world fell apart. He was devoted to me and our six-year-old daughter. But they’d connected him to the disappearance of a young mother from our tiny village.

Glad I kept listening
Revisado: 10-24-22
For me the story got off to a bit of a slow start - nice story but little action. Each chapter added more twists and half way through I didn’t want to stop listening. Great, somewhat unpredictable ending.

Slow start turned into a great read
Revisado: 01-18-21
After listening to my last audible book, a Nelson DeMille, I was a little slow to get into this one. However, it turned into a great story. I enjoyed the southern setting and the narrator did an honorable job of picking up the dialects. The mix of characters was great with all convening on the plantation setting the stage for the murders. Throw in a little love story to top it off.
