I really liked the characters and could relate to many of them.

This was a story about a family reunion that takes place every year during the new year. Lots of cooking lots of conversation and what happens when someone gets introduced into the mix.
That someone probably should’ve done their homework first. enjoyed it tremendously.

The believability of the characters and the cute storyline
Revisado: 11-24-24
The characters of the story really developed well even though it’s a very short story. I do prefer a longer story, yet this was entertaining and joyful despite the hardships they are going through. it’s a very nice holiday read.
Let’s also give credit to the audio as I have just listened to a different book that the audio was absolutely AI and horrible. There was text to their voices and I knew whom was speaking.

I enjoyed this book. I gave it four stars instead of five simply because I started to get nervous that there was going to be cheating and awfulness; I couldn't take any more awfulness in my life. I was wrong. It was a book about smart people and their funny quirks - I have tons of super smart people in my family and they talk just like the main character. Kind of scary. It definitely had some laugh out loud moments. Enjoyed the book and the narration.

Well thought out and an excellent read.
Revisado: 04-27-21
The Girl Beneath the Sea starts hot out of the gate. Growing up around scuba divers and people that live on boats,
Mr. Mayne captured their essence. There is something about people who have lived and grown up around the ocean. Their respect for the water is intense, yet they still go out and challenge its limits. The characters were well developed and the plot had twists and turns, and a few hmmmm moments. Really enjoyed this book.
The narrator did an excellent job.

Don't miss this great book!
Revisado: 04-24-21
Yes, a lame headline for this really good book. I was finished with violent murders and the hearts and flowers books. I needed something with a strong story line, interesting characters, and a couple of laughs. After four misses, I got that and way more than a couple of laughs with "Sorry I Missed You". The plot was really good. I couldn't really tell which way somethings were going to go. It was good to have some thoughts to ponder for later and how to have conversations that are hard. It was a lighthearted, funny, yet serious book. Bravo to you, Suzy Krause.
A nod to the narrator. She did an excellent job of separating the different characters and making the story flow.

Second reading was even better than the first!
Revisado: 10-02-20
I read this book years ago - they updated a few words. Enjoyed it then. Enjoyed it even more the second time even though I kept remembering things about it as I went along. The book is set at a murder mystery writers seminar near the Royal Baths. This absolutely odious man that was a famous murder mystery writer is killed. There are so many suspects that narrowing it down becomes difficult. It becomes less difficult as some of the major suspects are murdered.
There is also a subplot of the female detective that is loaned to another investigation that having to deal with this horrible boss and other detectives that are pigs and deserve to be put out on their ears.
Really loved this book. As the characters are in other books, it is nice to see the development of their strengths.
Michael Page is one of my favorite narrators. He has a beautiful timbre to his voice and you know who is speaking.

Intriguing. Edge of your seat!
Revisado: 10-02-20
Blackout starts from the perspective of the main character waking up from a blackout to find booze bottles and a dead body in his hotel room. The thing is that he is a card carrying member of AA. The other thing is that he used to be part of a specialized team that killed people or went in to get information. Did he do it?
The characters are so consistent in this book that at one point I think this women is going to wreck everything. All of the actions and complications make sense. Really enjoyed this book.
David Thorpe did an excellent job of differentiating all of the different characters to the point that I wouldn't have needed a name to know whom was speaking.

Not just a summer read.
Revisado: 10-02-20
This charming book is centered around a candy shop that the daughter wants to own and the stepmother wants to sell. She has dreamed about owning the store and works tirelessly. Unfortunately she doesn't have the money. How is she going to get that money? Randomly some out-of-towners ask to buy her painting that her father left her. The way they go about it sends alarm bells off in her head. While trying to figure out more about the painting and if it will save her, she is also helping a mother and son that broke down in the town during a heatwave.
A very charming story. Worth the read.
Kate Rudd is an excellent narrator and gives each character their own rhythm and sound.
