Historia
Today both reality and entertainment crowd our fields of vision with brutal imagery. The pervasiveness of images of torture, horror, and war has all but demolished the 20th-century hope that such imagery might shock us into a less alienated state, or aid in the creation of a just social order. What to do now? When to look, when to turn away? Genre-busting author Maggie Nelson brilliantly navigates this contemporary predicament, with an eye to the question of whether or not focusing on representations of cruelty makes us cruel.

Fantastic, but I do not recommend this book first.
Revisado: 11-16-21
This is the third book in her Cruelty series (she states this in her interview with Judith Butler found on YB). It's fantastically well researched, thorough without being polemic, and witty (at times). Nelson is one of my favorite writers. She's a brilliant poet (Bluets is chef kisses fingers). lol
However, I do not recommend it for people who haven't read Jane, and The Red Parts by Nelson first. Also, if you're not well versed in criticism (this includes me), buckled up and have a tab for Google open. Read Butler, Scarry, Sontag, in addition to this. Basically, I will be coming back to this book after I've gained more contextual insight. Note: it's not that Nelson is hard to understand by any means; she guides you through how she's uses text. It's that I'm pretentious and feel inadequate because I haven't read as much. lol
Happy reading, nerds.

I love this world and the bulid up that happens between the two characters. Their great together and the antagonists feel real.

Historia
Jadin Fields is a werewolf with a big heart. She loves her work as a dog trainer at a pet store, and she loves spending time with her kid sister. She has such a big heart, in fact, that when a complete (and gorgeous) stranger approaches her out of the blue at a pizza shop and begs her to act like her girlfriend - just for a minute...Jadin actually says yes. Tess Loranger has long, honey blonde hair, a bewitching smile and is the most attractive woman Jadin has ever set eyes on. She was also just dumped by her fiancee, and is trying, desperately, to show her that Tess can rebound fast.

Don’t waste your time. This book is not paranormal lesbian fiction. Trust me, I’m laughing at myself for writing that but seriously. If you want paranormal lesbo fic, don’t look here. Fallen Elements or Wild is great. This book is hella repetitive. Nothing happens and there’s not even good sex scenes to redeem this trash.

Historia
In this compelling and heartfelt memoir, writer Molly McAleer chronicles the discovery of her father's addiction and subsequent death, how true love saved her life and how she kind of sort of got tricked into going to rehab. She knows you'll probably never believe her side of the story, so she also interviews friends, ex-friends, and her acupuncturist about her history of substance abuse, flailing through her twenties and what kind of person she really is.

The story and voice actor were fantastic! At first, I really put this one off because I thought it was a "mom" book. It's totally not! For what is lacks in prose, it makes up for in pace. Content wise it's Lolitaesque. However, there in no monotony in You like the parts of Lolita where Humbert is just driving for like 3-5 pages or more. You is not concerned with beauty or the picturesque but rather how identity is formed from obsession. Bec is just as crazy as Joe- that's all I'll say. This is book is really worth the time.

Just no.
Revisado: 03-31-15
What disappointed you about The Midnight Hunt: Midnight Hunters, Book 1?
There was absolutely no storyline. Every character is flat and never evolves past having sex and their "were" exterior.
Would you ever listen to anything by L. L. Raand again?
No.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No
Any additional comments?
