Cam Hastings has come to Long Beach Island with her teenage daughter and the hope that maybe she can save her failed marriage. Don't bother
Revisado: 04-16-24
If you want to listen to baby talk and home decorating this is you dream book. There's no nail-biting suspense like the other reviews say. It just the another boring book by Nora Roberts since 'Obsession'. I've read 5 books by this author and still can't understand what people see in her writings.

A big fat Zero
Revisado: 03-15-24
I have no idea why everyone is giving this book such outstanding reviews. It was 14 hours of agonizing house decorating, bitching about the correct vase for the color of the flowers and feeling like I was reorganizing sock drawers. The first couple of chapters had promise for a really good book to follow; then it went down hill. If you want to save some time, read the first couple of chapter and the last couple. Read the ones in between if you're a love starved tweener. If this is what it takes to get published, then you're better off reading high school book reports.
Nora Roberts cranks books out like a machine gun so I guess the publishers just put any old thing she writes out there because her followers with devour them. Writers are struggling to get published and they have better stuff than this crud.
The listener has no way of knowing which character the reader is talking about because she speaks the same with ALL of the characters. Terrible reader.

He is appalled by their Viking customs - the wanton sexuality of their pale, angular women, their disregard for cleanliness...their cold-blooded human sacrifices. But it is not until they reach the depths of the Northland that the courtier learns the horrifying and inescapable truth.

UGH!
Revisado: 02-17-24
The female reader sounds like a morose tweener every time she introduces her character/ chapter. She's barely audible. Here's the good part: I'm so glad I read the first book, because now I won't waste anymore of my life on the rest of her books.
The writing is like reading a mid-school book report. Use your money or credits on another audible choice.

Historia
The devastation of Pearl Harbor and the American victory at Midway were prelude to a greater challenge: rolling back the vast Japanese Pacific empire island by island. This masterful history encompasses the heart of the Pacific War - the period between mid-1942 and mid-1944 - when parallel Allied counteroffensives north and south of the equator washed over Japan's far-flung island empire like a "conquering tide", concluding with Japan's irreversible strategic defeat in the Marianas.
