Historia
Just when Glennon Doyle Melton was beginning to feel she had it all figured out - three happy children, a doting spouse, and a writing career so successful that her first book catapulted to the top of the New York Times best seller list - her husband revealed his infidelity and she was forced to realize that nothing was as it seemed. A recovering alcoholic and bulimic, Glennon found that rock bottom was a familiar place. In the midst of crisis, she knew to hold on to what she discovered in recovery: that her deepest pain has always held within it an invitation to a richer life.

Raw, Honest, Great lessons
Revisado: 11-01-16
Glendon is an inspirational writer. She is raw, honest, and wise. I love the way she looks deep into her feelings and describes how she is thinking and the lessons she's learned about herself, her husband, and their marriage. She tells so many truths that many of us won't admit or don't realize. I loved listening to her journey. The courageous steps she took to help herself are inspirational. The book is interesting and kept my attention throughout. Great read, especially for women!

Historia
They were the Princess Dianas of their day—perhaps the most photographed and talked about young royals of the early twentieth century. The four captivating Russian Grand Duchesses—Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia Romanov—were much admired for their happy dispositions, their looks, the clothes they wore and their privileged lifestyle. Over the years, the story of the four Romanov sisters and their tragic end in a basement at Ekaterinburg in 1918 has clouded our view of them, leading to a mass of sentimental and idealized hagiography.

Good story about the Romanov's a little redundant

Interesting story. I'll start off with what I didn't like which is not a fatal flaw. I listen to Audible in my car while driving long distances from time to time. We had a 9 hour journey so my husband and I downloaded this book The narrators' tone ebbed and flowed and dropped off to a whisper as she closed her sentences . My husband complained that it was like we were being read a bedtime story. It was annoying because we couldn't hear and had to jump back to listen again, turning the volume way up to catch what she said. The story went on and on about the same thing but just said in different ways seemingly for hours. Perhaps it paints a good picture of how mundane the lives of the Romanov family was . It was interesting to find out just how sheltered and disconnected this family was from the world and the issues of Russia while they lived in their bubble. It was clear how loving the family was and devoted the Czar and Alexandra were to their children. It's a good read if you are into learning about the war in Russia in the early 1900's from the perspective of the royalty and elite.
