Historia
Western philosophy is a vast intellectual tradition, the product of thousands of years of revolutionary thought built up by a rich collection of brilliant minds. But to understand the Western intellectual tradition is to get only half the story. The Eastern intellectual tradition has made just as important a contribution-and is also the product of thousands of years of cumulative thought by a distinct group of brilliant thinkers. Their ideas demonstrate wholly different ways of approaching and solving the same fundamental issues that concerned the West's greatest thinkers, such as . the existence of God; . the meaning of life; and. the nature of truth and reality. This epic and comprehensive 36-lecture examination of the East's most influential philosophers and thinkers-from a much-honored teacher and scholar-offers a thought-provoking look at the surprising connections and differences between East and West. By introducing you to the people-including The Buddha, Ashoka, Prince Shotoku, Confucius, and Gandhi-responsible for molding Asian philosophy and for giving birth to a wide variety of spiritual and ideological systems, it will strengthen your knowledge of cultures that play increasingly important roles in our globalized 21st-century world.

A very well made book.
Revisado: 11-05-24
Before coming into this book I read Great Minds of the Western Intellectual tradition and was familiar with eastern theologies and philosophies. This book put everything I knew about eastern thought into context, introduced new perspectives, made me rethink how I framed my thinking, and did so in a way that was pleasant to listen to, easy to follow, and easy to understand. This ease is what makes this book not just good to listen to, but great. Thank you professor Hardy, well done.

One of the best books on philosophy I’ve ever heard.
While the quality of each lecturer’s delivery varies, their knowledge is impeccable.

Historia
Superintelligence asks the questions: What happens when machines surpass humans in general intelligence? Will artificial agents save or destroy us? Nick Bostrom lays the foundation for understanding the future of humanity and intelligent life. The human brain has some capabilities that the brains of other animals lack. It is to these distinctive capabilities that our species owes its dominant position. If machine brains surpassed human brains in general intelligence, then this new superintelligence could become extremely powerful - possibly beyond our control.

Don’t read this at your own peril.
Revisado: 03-18-24
This book is so insightful and relevant I got it here to read it twice and I consider this book to be essential reading material for anyone in this age who seeks to to understand AI, progress, and where the future may be headed.
I recommend reading this twice and years apart as well, as in my second read through I am learning as much as I did in my first.
Oddly this books makes me appreciate my humanity more than I had before. Things we may take for granted such as sight, sound, and sensation seem to be worth more than a million autistic thoughts about math a second.

The best Warhammer 40K book
Revisado: 01-14-24
This books sets the stage for the epic that is Warhammer like nothing else does. It’s a shame the story goes so far down hill from here just to sell small plastic toys to grown men for this series has more unrealized potential than anything else I’ve read in my life.

Book is better than the show.
Revisado: 01-14-24
I read this book years before the show came out and the show is like World War Z, same title but very different and worse for it. I didn’t watch more than an episode while I read this whole book. While it’s a bit aged, if it’s your cup of tea you’ll enjoy it.

This book is one of the worst books I have ever had the displeasure of reading. While well written, It is as if seeing the world from the eyes of someone who doesn't see color and it made me feel less grateful of life for having touched it.

Historia
From his perspective in Renaissance Italy, Machiavelli's aim in this classic work was to resolve conflict with the ruling prince, Lorenzo de Medici. Machiavelli based his insights on the way people really are rather than an ideal of how they should be. This is the world's most famous master plan for seizing and holding power. Astonishing in its candor The Prince even today remains a disturbingly realistic and prophetic work on what it takes to be a prince, a king, or a president.

Revisado: 01-13-24
If you haven't read this or the 48 laws of power, read the 48 laws instead. The 48 laws is a direct evolution of this book and this book is a bit outdated, though it is fascinating to see how men of a bygone era thought of power and which lessons hold true and not to this day.

Historia
You are a mind reader, born with an extraordinary ability to understand what others think, feel, believe, want, and know. It's a sixth sense you use every day, in every personal and professional relationship you have. At its best, this ability allows you to achieve the most important goal in almost any life: connecting, deeply and intimately and honestly, to other human beings. At its worst, it is a source of misunderstanding and unnecessary conflict, leading to damaged relationships and broken dreams. How good are you at knowing the minds of others?

I think this is one of the best books you can read about psychology.
Making a complicated subject simple is to demonstrate mastery of it. This book teaches you in 6 hours what some professors could not teach in a class and for it's short and substantial nature I view it as a masterpiece of a guide.
