Historia
Two brothers meet at the remote fence line separating their cattle ranches in the lonely outback. In an isolated belt of Western Australia, they are each other’s nearest neighbor, their homes a four-hour drive apart. The third brother lies dead at their feet. Something caused Cam, the middle child who had been in charge of the family homestead, to die alone in the middle of nowhere. So the eldest brother returns with his younger sibling to the family property and those left behind. But the fragile balance of the ranch is threatened.

I liked this twisted story and how the truth was revealed slowly in pieces throughout as we learned more about each character, their lives, others who came into contact with them, & of course, the dirty hidden secrets. Good unexpected twists.

Historia
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Conflicted thoughts
Revisado: 01-12-25
I didn't realize this was supposed to be a romantic series. Apparently I don't know what those are. What I heard in these books was a group of 5 20 year olds kids who were constantly having sex together because "they were bonded". It was repetitive, boring, and nothing more than porn.
Keep the rest of the story and tone down the sex into a simple relationship between the interspecies and it would have been a good series. 🤷♀️ IDK I am unsure who this series is supposed to be written for?
Take away the sex scenes and it would be something my teenager students would loved to have read. Now, there's no way I can even mention it!
Because of the sex scenes that are the same and graphic, there's no way I'd recommend it to any adult either.
So, who is this for?
NOT recommended 👎 Even if free.

In between snippets
Revisado: 11-12-24
These are mini stories of characters from her main books compiled into one large audio book. Some of the stories I enjoyed more than others, however, like all her other books, she puts in the research and comes up with interesting stories even without our beloved main characters, Jaime and Claire. A couple of the stories delve into the supernatural which I never anticipated. Although I don't generally care for stories of this nature, they were interesting nonetheless.
As usual, the were good and therefore, I recommend the book. 👍

Amazing characters, rich language, & good history
Revisado: 09-10-24
Amazing characters, rich language, & good history is an extreme brief answer for a book of such incredible depth and only one in a series of a long tale told over several books.
In MANY decades of reading 🤪, I still find it difficult to purchase books when there are many excellent books available for free. This is a series however, I have not once felt I not gotten my money's worth and also that the author deserved compensation for the outstanding efforts and accomplishments she did in her production of this series.
I do admit there are times I could do without the sex scenes, then I remember the time frame her story is set in and must remember how much that was part of the scene at that point. The rest of the story is remarkable and I think my favorite part of her writing ability is her inate ability to vividly capture and paint a scene for the reader, both in the imagery as well as the thoughts behind the characters involved. She also cleverly inserts what is happening in history at the time along with what WILL happen. Yep, that's correct, though there is much historical accuracy in the book, she has also taken her writer's liberty and inserted a character, Claire, who is madly in love with James Fraiser and living back in a time she didn't come from and knows the outcome of the battles being fought! Only, it's not like she's going to tell everyone, she'd be burned as a witch! 🤔
So, life is a constant struggle, yet it is also filled with incredible love, passion, and devotion to family that has since disappeared these days. It is filled with commitment and honor, trust, simplicity, allies, enemies, continued battles, simple friendships, and so, so much more. It is impossible for me to do this or any of her books justice.
I highly recommend this book or any of the previous books at this points. 👍 They have all been excellent. 👍

Historia
Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army. And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

Continues to be a good book series
Revisado: 07-10-24
I still enjoyed this book very much. Had I not read all of the previous books, I may have given it a higher rating. However, it is because I read the other books and know how incredibly outstanding they are, historically, and the fluidity of not just the storyline, but also each transition was superbly done.
This story often jumped around, leaving me confused. The family is split apart for some reason by hundreds of years. Yet, there is a communication of letters that was set up some way apparently prior to Bree & Roger jumping back to the present.
Overall, the story is okay. It just is not on the same level as the previous books. The one part I did enjoy was watching the characters grow with age and see who they became.

Great series!
Revisado: 06-20-24
I'm thoroughly enjoying this series. It's difficult to keep me engaged in a historical novel, even if it is story based and not entirely factual. This book has so many subplot themes there is going to be something for everyone.
I have been impressed by so much in this book and the series in general. Simply the vast knowledge of history, the organization needed to keep all the MASSIVE amount of information flowing, down to the solid character development of all the characters, and even the impressive medical knowledge. There was some definite research done and likely collaboration in the making of these books. Boy, was it worth it. I rarely ever purchase books. I have been buying these. 👍

Revisado: 05-31-24
I enjoyed the first 2 main books best followed by this one so far. They are captivating and I plan on reading the entire series at some point. I'm hoping they will have another special where they will be free and I'll have more than a week to try and read the entirety! For now, I did find there is in fact a series based on these books. That will hold me over for now.
Highly recommended 👍

In which, a 17-year-old apprentice dealer in rare books is sent from Paris to England by her father, to obtain incunabula and medieval books of devotion - and whatever secrets of political intrigue or finance may come to hand in the process. Not the same caliber after reading the 1st 2 books
Revisado: 05-26-24
Frederick is a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach- a rather unusual pet living in the bookshop of the main characters of this book. Overall, I did enjoy the book. However, I struggled to separate this book which is only a small offshoot from the two first two outstanding books I just completed. It felt a bit of an unnecessary tangent at this point, but considering how many books are in this series and not knowing if these newly introduced characters will play a pivotal roll in the future, it may be to early to tell. As for now, I felt distracted from the original story, but wait to see if it ties in.
