Started slow, got really good, ended interesting AF. World building took the author a bit to start rolling. feels like an early Brandon Sanderson.. if he wrote his super hero series first instead of Elantris.

The narrator pauses way too long. Made me flick my headset on and off a few times... frustrating. Other than that it was good.

So I am re-listening to this novel in preparation for the 3rd one to come out.

I suddenly realized that other than the "part" and "chapter" announcements. These narrators are among the least intrusive I have ever listened to. They suck you into the story without you even realizing that they are reading it to you.

Inspiring

The fact that I am not the only one who had to battle against anxiety of this nature reassuring.

Though I have overcome most of my old anxious behaviors. I totally relate to those moments of "worst case scenario" over thinking.

I hope that more people with relatable experiences will read or listen to this book, and that it will help inspire them to overcome and succeed.

What other book might you compare Daughter of Smoke and Bone to and why?

Here's the thing, it is its own book. I cant put a comparison on it for the life of me. Completely unique experience.

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

I like how she breaths life into the story, her voice is very expressive. That shows in all of the wonderfully accented voices she gives us in this performance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The dance and the sugar devouring shawl.

I must say, Johanna Parker really out does herself with each new Sookie Stackhouse Performance.

True Blood turned me onto the books and I buzzed through the books like no body's business. Watching it play out on TV is like watching a FanFic performed.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story was dry... it needed some flare to it.

What could Fern Michaels have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I just could not get into her style of writing. I tried this out because of Johanna Perker, I am more of a Diskworld and Dresden gal I guess...

Um... all of them Because Johanna Parker is a voice Goddess!!!
