Historia
Kera Watson never expected to face death behind a Los Angeles coffee shop. Not after surviving two tours lugging an M16 around the Middle East. If it wasn't for her hot Viking customer showing up too late to help, nobody would even have seen her die. In uncountable years of service to the Allfather Odin, Ludvig "Vig" Rundstrom has never seen anyone kick ass with quite as much style as Kera.

I'll admit it, I loved it
Revisado: 08-23-24
So, I'll admit it. I mainly bury myself in history courses, and long volumes of ancient history of Rome and Scandinavia, mixed with Tolkien-esque fantasies about barbarians and elves and wizards. I got this one to see what all the excitement was about, among the women I know. To find out what this "Erotica-fantasy" genre was about. I'm not going to lie, I was hooked three chapters in. I LOVED this book!! Ended up going through the whole series, and then starting again. ANd now I'm working my way through her other series'. The bears have captured my attention already, and I've taken to wearing ear buds at work to listen there, instead of keeping it to my hour long commute twice a day. I already know I'm going to blaze through this series, and then start again just because I'm not ready for it to be done. Well done!! You've definitely acquired a new fan!

good story
Revisado: 08-23-24
Overall, it was a good story of the authors experiences, and some good retellings of other events. I was very disappointed that the last two chapters turned into a cross between a commercial for his company and a soapbox for why he's cooler than everyone else.

Historia
Pompeii was destroyed by the horrific eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE, which buried at least 2,000 unlucky people. Pompeii became a mysterious tomb, hiding secrets of Rome and other civilizations that influenced the life and culture of the city and its people. Who were the Pompeiians, and how did they live before that dreadful day? What did the last days of Pompeii look like, and did the Pompeiians know that the fate of their city would be sealed that day, not to be uncovered for centuries to come?

Decent for high school
Revisado: 08-23-24
If you're just starting your journey into learning about Ancient Rome, this might be informative. But if you've read or listened to anything even remotely scholarly, this will feel like freshman history from high school. Some good tidbits of information here and there, but overall I was thoroughly unimpressed

If you want to discover the history of the Roman Games, then pay attention...What were the Roman games? What was it like for gladiators in the arenas of ancient Rome? How thrilling was it to see chariot races on the Roman race track? Were the condemned really thrown to lions at the Circus Maximus? These are a few of the questions that will be explored in this audiobook. The Romans were known for their extensive civilization, but at the heart of Roman power was a penchant for the Roman games.

not history
Revisado: 08-20-24
Its billed as a history of the games of ancient Rome, but this book is more of a 20th century Christians moralization of Rome. I was looking for historical information, possibly insights into things I hadn't read, or sources I didn't know of. I was sorely disappionted. The writer uses the Christian Bible as reference material more than any other source. This book seems more from a sunday school classroom than anything. If you're looking for history, I'd skip this one

Historia
Deep down here by the dark water lived old Gollum, a small slimy creature. I don’t know where he came from, nor who or what he was. He was Gollum—as dark as darkness, except for two big round pale eyes in his thin face. He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake; for lake it was, wide and deep and deadly cold.

Packed with battles, blood and thrilling adventure, the third blood-stirring chapter in the story of Raven and his fellow Viking warriors is historical fiction at its very best. We lusted for an even greater prize... It is the one prize that can never be lost or stolen or burnt. And we would find it in Miklagard... Raven and the Wolfpack have suffered. Good men have died and the treasures they fought so hard for have been lost. But to such men as these there is something more valuable than silver.
