Historia
May, 1989. The two nuclear superpowers are finally talking peace, but not everyone in the Soviet Union seeks such resolution. Senior Soviet ministers and generals conduct a coup to seize power and prevent the dissolution of the USSR and the Warsaw Pact. To cover up their plot and capitalize on the resulting chaos, they invade West Germany, setting off a chain of events and the Third World War. Across Europe, soldiers and spies are drawn into the conflict. From NATO headquarters to the front lines, the information is there to prevent nuclear annihilation if only they can find it in time.

Great premise, gets lost in fog of writing
Revisado: 10-24-24
There are several things to like about this book:
1. It does make you think about what could have happened.
2. Alternate history is a fantastic subject, and seeing another author tried to tackle this angle is great.
The trouble with this book is that it is so lost in the minutia of the battles that you get little minor character development and all the politics disappear. What starts as an interesting story about the political coup just gets lost in the battle.
If you’re a fan of books that are detailing unit movements and how a battle unfolds, this book is for you. I made it to within seven hours of the finish, but I just cannot conclude this.

Historia
Tribulation is a twisted mystery about an end-of-days religious cult manipulating space and traveling across planes of existence on electricity and radio signals. Cult members willingly accept seven brutal years of torture, known as their “tribulation,” to atone for their earthly sins and come out on the other side saved (or thoroughly brainwashed?). The hero of this thriller, Stacy Carlson, must uncover the mystery of the Tribulation cult after her husband Greg is kidnapped by its leader, Brother Elijah (Josh Charles), through a bizarre AM radio broadcast.

Why. Just why?
Revisado: 04-24-22
You can listen to this and be intrigued by the characters but understanding “why” this all happened is really odd. It’s a weird story. It’s a weird plot. And it’s an even weirder ending.
Wish I had the time back.

Historia
A century ago very few people dreamed of space travel. Today it is the most daring and technologically sophisticated quest ever undertaken, being driven not just by government agencies such as NASA and ESA, but also by visionaries such as Richard Branson (Virgin Galactic), Elon Musk (SpaceX) and Jeff Bezos (Blue Origin). To mark the 50th anniversary of the 1969 moon landing, this major drama-documentary series charts the definitive story of the past, present and future of humankind’s exploration of space. The Space Race is narrated by Kate Mulgrew and features a full cast.

Why in the world were the small “theater” pieces put in? It made the story really odd.

Historia
This audiobook is about the unthinkable - something that most people don't believe will happen, or that it is just a threat from long ago, like watching a black-and-white movie of wars long ago. This book explores the half-faked collapse of the Soviet Union, and the secret rise of their hate, and the massive war preparations against the West. Americans are completely oblivious to the secret preparations for a planed surprise attack on the West. Unfortunately, I have seen these preparations and plans from behind the scenes and World War III will happen within 10 to 15 years.

Dull
Revisado: 08-19-21
Could not get into this. If this is the author reading his book, he’s wholly devaluing the work. Drab. Dull. Boring. And bad audio quality. Please re-release with a new narrator. Could not finish due to the poor reading.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Great short story - perfect two hours
Revisado: 09-30-19
Nice short story, nice character development and interesting concepts. Would be nice to see the main characters expanded to a full novel. A story with them would be intriguing.

The reason why Episodes 1-3 finally make sense
Revisado: 03-25-15
If you are someone like me that wanted to always know the backstory of where the Emperor came from, to understand what happened to cause the Senate to turn the way it did, and to truly understand so much of the backstory that supports the basis and background for episodes one through three in the trilogy, you must read this or listen to this audio. The story is excellent, spend the extra money and get this unabridged version of the audio cast, and's truly spend time diving into the Star Wars universe. You will not regret it.
