Historia
It’s 1927. Letty Hart’s father is long gone, but his old winery provides a meager wage and a legal livelihood for selling sacramental wine. But when that contract goes bust, Letty stumbles upon a desperate option: her father’s hidden cellar—and enough liquor to tempt Letty to bootleg the secret stash. In an underworld dominated by merciless men, Letty is building an empire.

Refreshing but short and to the point
Revisado: 04-25-25
I enjoyed this juxtaposition of characters against the varying circumstances and inevitable collision that occurs in the story. The surprising twist hidden well, and the characters being the force behind the story and not plotting for plot sake. I enjoyed this as a go-between book from my normal Fantasy/Urban Fantasy runs.

Left more to be desired
Revisado: 04-22-25
I loved the performances from Fiona Hardingham, Christian Coulson, as they embody these characters no matter whose reading. The story as a whole left a lot to be desired, as a nice sizeable chunk could have been cut as fluff/filler, and the twists, although good, took way longer to process even by character standards. Because I enjoyed these characters, I wanted to see how they moved about the twists once revealed to them, but the story seemed to move because plot more than characters. I'll continue on with the series whenever Book Three is released, but Book One was wholly better than Book Two.

Davi has done this all before. She’s tried to be the hero and take down the all-powerful Dark Lord. A hundred times she’s rallied humanity and made the final charge. But the time loop always gets her in the end. Sometimes she’s killed quickly. Sometimes it takes a while. But she’s been defeated every time. This time? She’s done being the hero and done being stuck in this endless time loop. If the Dark Lord always wins, then maybe that’s who she needs to be. It’s Davi’s turn to play on the winning side.

Dark Lord?
Revisado: 02-15-25
Davi is a heroine that isn't a heroine or anti-hero or anti-villain... don't get me wrong, she does some screwed up stuff. however, she's probably clinically insane, and what she does is literally fake it till you make it. repercussions happen, she's not absent of blame, nor does she pull her punches. she along with her minions, develop and situations are character driven, not plot. will be getting the next right now!

Historia
Marcus' hero days are behind him. He knows too well that even the smallest war still means somebody's death. When his men are impressed into a doomed army, staying out of a battle he wants no part of requires some unorthodox steps. Cithrin is an orphan, ward of a banking house. Her job is to smuggle a nation's wealth across a war zone, hiding the gold from both sides. She knows the secret life of commerce like a second language, but the strategies of trade will not defend her from swords. Geder, sole scion of a noble house, has more interest in philosophy than in swordplay.

slow start and a slow finish
Revisado: 02-02-25
I was excited for these books, got the whole series on sale. but my God did this first book move slow. this felt like a book that was supposed to be the prologue, but just kept going. hell, the rising and falling action weren't even noticable. I hope the rest of the series picks up the pace. also, the numerous races and all that got to be more annoying to recall that helped build the world.

slow start but

gets everything going and moving pretty quickly. you get a few contrived plot points, but they all work for the greater good! this is performed immaculately by the full cast! and the additional sounds does not impact the reading!

Historia
Spying and treachery are as much a part of warfare as weapons and death. This has always been the case since the earliest battles and is not likely to change in the future. And yet, even within this irregular system, there are certain rules, especially in past eras such as the American Revolution. First, while spying on behalf of one's country is perfectly respectable, betraying one's nation is treason. Second, honorable men do not involve those too innocent to understand the consequences of their actions in their schemes.

Short and Sweet

For a great man caught in the blundering wake of Major General Benedict Arnold, Major John Andre stands juxtaposed to the man who caused his untimely death. this writing is short and Sweet and gives more accounts around John Andre's rise, capture and subsequent execution. performed well, although stale.

Historia
Opposites attack! When the Magelord Minalan the Spellmonger’s two apprentices, Tyndal and Rondal, were knighted after the battle of Timberwatch, they were dubbed Knights Magi: A new class of nobility for distinguished High Magi. Designed to combine the pursuit of arcane knowledge with the noble aspirations of chivalry, it elevated them above common warmage...in theory. The problem was they had no idea how to be a Knight Mage...because no one had ever been one before.

They Grow Up So Fast
Revisado: 12-16-24
I was surprised but enjoyed the story focusing on the growth of Rondal and Tyndal as characters and in Minalin's words, men. Gave a look into their rivalry and begrudging respect, and how they view the world at large, women, their master, and events they're directly tied to. overall, their enjoyed this, even though one event that caused a few idiot ball moments annoyed me greatly as it seemed contrived to say the least. overall, enjoyed this one, may be my favorite so far but so much more to listen to.

When Britt, a modern young woman, is pulled by a magical summons back through time she finds herself smack in the middle of the schemes of the surprisingly young and handsome wizard Merlin. Britt has no interest in the throne, and she definitely doesn't want to pretend she is the legendary King Arthur, but Merlin has some bad news.

Slow start to Great Emotional Story
Revisado: 11-20-24
I'll be honest, the first book seemed like a speed run through the sword in the stone, the Crowning of Arthur (Britt) and her completing her first Chala as King of Camelot. After this, the characters began to grow, and you saw honest change, admittedly, all positive minus a few. But I enjoy the reimagining of the legends in different ways, because the characters were emotionally grounded in close to what people would do. admittedly, there was some picking up of the idiot ball by everyone. but I enjoyed it because I enjoyed the characters and it being character driven outside of the plot moving them. the changes to the world subtle, the use of Arthurian Mythos amazing!

Shifting and moving and nice
Revisado: 10-11-24
read by the amazing Lauren Fortgang, and the cast she brings to life are distinct and intricate as their development throughout. don't get me wrong, some pick up certain idiocies for plot sake, but it made sense in the grand scheme and plot of things. enjoyed this thoroughly, hopefully there's a second book, because I want more!
