One of the best so far.

This entire series has been fun and exciting. Not too much suspense to make my heart race, but enough to keep me wanting to listen ‘just a little longer’ every time I shouldn’t. The characters are believable and I get drawn into their lives even when the story isn’t really focusing on them. I can’t wait to start the next one.

Heart wrenching

I really enjoyed listening to one of my favorite actors of all time, Sally Field, tell me about her life from her perspective. It was enlightening and heart wrenching to hear of her struggles. I was angry at Burt for making her feel less than. I still think he’s gorgeous, but egotistical like I always suspected. To hear how she loved, her children, the men in her life, her mother and sister and the bond she had with her brother, all of it made me feel like I knew her personally, at least a little. I’m not much for biographies or real life stories because I like light hearted easy to listen books. But this book was so worth my time. I’m glad I had the opportunity to hear Sally tell her story. She is a beautiful person.

Enjoyable

I really liked the characters. But the narration was monotone and dry. It was hard to listen at times.

The figured out who the true villain was very early in the book. A few times I considered I may have been wrong, but I wasn’t. Even though I’d figured it out, I still eagerly listened to the whole book. The end was really exciting.

I will listen to the next book.

The plot was ever changing and it wasn’t easy to guess.

I’m not crazy about a woman falling for a man who treats her poorly, even if he turns out to be ok.

This was a fun, easy listen. It made me laugh. Never came close to crying, which is good sometimes. The narrator did a God job with the accents, even if a bit overdone at times. I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys a good mystery, some threat of danger, love and laughter.

Stiff Penalty for Whom?

Title made me wonder the whole book but I never figured out to what it was referring. With that aside, it was a good book. I don't care for books or movies or anything else told by the main character as a recount of what happened. I'm not sure why Annelise Ryan decided to tell it that way. This story had a sweet ending but leaves you wanting more. I look forward to the next and just hope it isn't written the same way.

Another Suspense I Couldn't Put Down

The beginning was a little weird and hard to dig into, but I'm really glad that I did. I wanted Jack Morgan to be more involved, but quickly fell in love with the detective featured. The villain was a mystery until very near the end. I'm ready for the next Private adventure.
