Different and interesting
Revisado: 03-22-25
Looking forward to Book 2 expanding on the world a little. Enjoyed the characters and how they related to each other. The story was interesting with just enough humor and sexy times. And the drama of the mystery was incorporated well into the story.

And now I have the chance to make that dream a reality. But helping them means giving up so much. I have a family now, a pride, and I don't want to put them at risk. Luckily for me, my mate wants to be a part of the revolution, too, but that still leaves everyone else.

Still going strong and holding interest
Revisado: 03-22-25
I really enjoy the world author has built. It's a sort of love to hate it attitude. Kind of glad she chose the USA and both the bad guys and the good guys. Very well written. Relationships still progressing, not getting stale. Author is adding a few side characters to keep it fresh but the story is still about the three main characters, Madeo, Cosmo and Jude. Honestly, one of the best series that doesn't change from character to character that I've ever listened to.

Just as good as Book 1
Revisado: 03-22-25
Additional world building and relationship building without repeating from Book 1 too much. Love how the story is going. Now.... I've listened to the entire series and recommend it except for change of narrator. The series gets pretty violent and abusive which I don't care for, but I truly enjoyed the relationship between Madeo and Jude and how the author navigated the best friends relations with their significant others. She didn't just write about it happening. She went into details about how what they were thinking, their fears and expectations. It was a great series.

At home, my life is amazing, thanks to my boyfriend, Cosmo Ono-Nai, and his wonderful family that I’ve become a part of. I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my life. But work is a different story. All anyone’s talking about is the Red Cloth this, the Red Cloth that. I can’t escape them, and all I really want is to find someplace the witches can’t reach, take my family—my pride—there, and hide them away from the world.

Did not like new narrator but loved story
Revisado: 03-22-25
I had to wait almost 4 months between books 2 and 3 because I didn't like Zaba's voice for any of the characters compared to CJ Storm. So once the old narration was out of my head I dove back into the series so I could see how characters fared. I was able to adjust to new narration and very pleased with the entire series. The series gets pretty violent and abusive which I don't care for, but I truly enjoyed the relationship between Madeo and Jude and how the author navigated the best friends relations with their significant others. She didn't just write about it happening. She went into details about how what they were thinking, their fears and expectations. It was a great series.

Almost passes for erotic vs romance
Revisado: 03-22-25
Nice break from conflict driven, violent and sometimes dark MM fantasy romance I've been listening to. Easy going and simply romance with lots and lots of sex. Not much world building, almost entire story only about the two main characters. As always, Michael F did excellent narration. I probably wouldn't have listened if it would have been a more mediocre narrator.

I’ve never wanted a relationship—especially not with a human. With my father demanding my return to Hell and a demon leaving dead bodies in my bookshop, now is not the time to lose my heart. One look in Oscar’s broken eyes, and I know I’m in trouble. Oscar’s been hurt before, and everything in me screams to keep him safe. How can I do that when I know being with me will only put him in more danger? More importantly, am I strong enough to walk away from him?

Great story building and story, one narrator bad
Revisado: 03-22-25
I enjoyed the world the author created and the story itself well enough that I will continue to listen despite not liking Dan Calley's narration at all. Wooden, monotoned and I couldn't wait to get his chapters done with just to get on with the story. Of course, Joel Leslie is awesome as usual. The story worth it for now. Just the right mixture of intrigue, humor, drama and sexy times. Could have done with a little less of the abusive history but it was extremely important to the story and there were only two or three lines of real detail; the rest just how it impacted Oscar.

Historia
I'm overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated, and up to my lavender eyeballs in missing and murdered shifters. To make matters worse, I've acquired a dog. Sort of. He's not actually a dog. I don't know his name or anything about him other than the fact that he's mostly hairless and is blind in one eye-and he's a witness to one of the unsolved shifter murders that's keeping me up at night. We found him at a crime scene, injured and scared, and I just can't make myself lock him up for obstruction of justice, even though I probably should.

POV surprise
Revisado: 08-03-24
It took at least an hour of listening before I got used to this book not being about Ward and Mason. And then adjusting to Hart's new voice, because his voice in prior books was very distinct. The story is good though. And probably a good thing Hart's voice changed since he's the main character. However, I fell in love with Ward and Mason and didn't really care for how they seemed to be portrayed more arrogant and even a bit condescending. I've read descriptions of the balance of the books in this series and there don't seem to be any more featuring them so I am choosing not to continue... at least for now. Need to get over my double disappointments.

I live a simple, small-town life. Helping with the family restaurant, my side gig as a ride-share driver, hanging with my best friend, and making the most of the extra time with my ghost grandma. The only exciting thing to happen to me in the past year was when Gabe moved to town—too bad Nonna scared him off. It’s hard to impress a guy when your dead grandmother calls him the devil.

enjoyed completing the story but the telling seemed too long in parts and jumped over explanations in others. Prior books are required to understand what's going on. Thoroughly enjoyed the story including all characters from other books interacting in the storyline.

Warning: ADDICTIVE and CLIFFHANGER
Revisado: 08-03-22
Jocelynn Drake wrote one of my all time favorites series, Unbreakable bonds, so I was very excited when I came across this series (Godstone) on Audible. I am three books into it and world building is phenomenal, relationship building is great for Eno and Rayne, less so but still good for Caelan and Drayce. However, I'm still flummoxed by why a well known author finds it necessary to end EVERY book in a series with such a dramatic cliffhanger. I would read the entire series anyway; they don't have end so abruptly. It's quite annoying and I feel as if it was done for the sole purpose of selling the next book. Fans don't need that incentive. Maybe even first time readers don't need that incentive in this case. One ended in the middle of a conversation! Another one ended just one paragraph after a very huge secret is revealed. But I will admit, the secret was very unexpected, almost shocking. Loved that aspect.
So I'm rating 5 stars for story and performance, though Kale Williams isn't my favorite narrator, I don't hesitate to listen to his books. However, I gave it a 4 overall for the unnecessary cliffhanger and also because the relationship between Caelan and Drayce doesn't come across as strong or meaningful as it should consider Caelan is the main character. Meanwhile, the relationship between Eno and Rayne is written beautifully, can't be felt in the words of the book and actions of characters. Caelan's feels.... less. All the right words are there but it just doesn't pluck my heart strings the way the bodyguard and advisor's does.
That being said, I would recommend this book to all my MM genre loving friends.

You belong to me and I know it down deep, in muscle and bone, where my wolf lives. Avery Rhine isn’t an average homicide detective with the Chicago PD. In fact, Avery isn’t an average anything. Sure, as an omega he knows he’s at the bottom of the food chain, but that’s never slowed him down. He’s got a great life, complete with a loving family and a best friend who’d take a bullet for him, so what more could he possibly want or need? Except, maybe, for the world to change.

Refreshingly non-confrontational and dramatic
Revisado: 07-29-21
Nice to hear a book that the MC's are at each others throats to start or at odds with each other for some reason. Mary Calmes wrote another book that had limited angst but brimmed with drama, mystery and just enough violence. Thoroughly enjoyed the instant and justified meshing of MC's and in depth explanations of this paranormal world.
And that it was narrated by Greg Boudreaux was icing on the cake.
