Great story, FMC narrator only okay
Revisado: 03-24-25
I am not a Lucy Rivers fan. Something about how she performs male voices is jarring for me. However, I've had a crush on Aaron Shedlock's voice for some time, and he does an incredible job with this.
The story is catching an addictive. I really like this series because the men are heroic, protective, and all in from the first moment. There is no bouncing back and forth or third act breakup.

Historia
Ashley is about to start her new dream job at Carter Corporation, a prominent Manhattan firm, and is running late on her very first day when she crosses paths with an insufferable man who causes her to lose both precious time and her patience. When she shows up at the office more than an hour late, she is introduced to her boss... who is none other than the man responsible for her tardiness! He takes a nasty pleasure in sewing doubt in her mind as to whether or not she has a future with Carter Corp., which kicks off a pattern of seduction and provocation between the two.

Steamy, Flirty, and Fun
Revisado: 01-12-25
It's an understatement to say I enjoy this audiobook. This book earned me my gold Repeat Listener badge.
Gabriel is very alpha, arrogant, and passionate- a high ranking manager at Carter Corp. The only thing that can bring him to his knees is his new assistant, Ashley. He loves a good challenge, and Ashley gives it to him. She calls him out on his arrogance and high-handedness, challenges him, and finds herself taking for his charm and magnetism despite trying hard to resist him. Add in a couple of well developed side-characters and this story is a win!
I loved watching Gabriel and Ashley learn to put their pride aside for each other, banter and flirt, and find out that they really want the same thing- a committed relationship with the other. Their chemistry is off the charts and ends with a happily ever after that leaves me feeling content.

Dallas Barnes is tall, dark, and handsome. He's also scarred, rough, and broken down by burdens. A single dad. A widower. A lost soul. We found each other in the back of a dark pub. He brought the whiskey. I brought the bad decisions. He called it a mistake. I vowed never to speak to him again. That vow is broken with one test. Two pink lines have turned my life upside down. One night can change everything.

A cute, and feel-good romance
Revisado: 10-18-24
It seems that baseball romance stories are free and far between, but this one is a home run. The characters are both easy to relate to and are people I would want to be friends with. I found myself cheering both of them on to their happy ending. There is no cheating, no mind games, plenty of love rather than simply lust, and, my favorite, we see the characters working together to overcome conflict. Their response to the conflict is realistic and doesn't completely derail the whole story/progress. This one is a keeper.

Even better than the story in the game
Revisado: 06-04-24
I love this story. Love it! If you are familiar with the Is it Love? all then maybe you've played Matt's story. This is better. Not only does it give us the MC perspective, we also hear from Matt and Daryl, and it is so fascinating and insightful to hear their point of view. We get so many more details that smooth out the story. The performances are spot on, particularly Rueben Reid who voices both Matt and Daryl and manages to convey their different personalities yet make them still sound like twins. I love this story so much; I've listened to it at least 20 times. I fell in love with Matt's character completely. This is absolutely worth it.

The forces of darkness are ever vigilant, searching for ways to erode the balance of power and take control. When subtle changes begin to permeate the fragile peace, new lives are drawn into the web of fate woven around all the races.

Great story, good narrator
Revisado: 11-13-22
It seems to be a thing that Dragonlance audiobooks have been cursed with some terrible narrators- Paul Boehmer being the stand out great narrator I've heard so far. This narrator is very good! She has great inflection, proper emotion, different voices for the characters, a fantastic Scottish brogue for Reorx, and *doesn't mispronounce a single character name*! It was a pleasure to listen to. The only change I would have made is that when she speaks in a lower register for some voices, like Caramon or Tanin, she loses a bit of the expression and flexibility she has in other voices. That's it. Otherwise, her narration was easy to listen to and didn't distract from the story that we all really wanted to hear.

Great story, narration meh
Revisado: 10-27-22
Again with the narration. So often the tone and voice used doesn't match the emotion in the story. The narrator often uses a matter-of-fact delivery that doesn't work for everything. Not only is he mispronouncing character names, but mispronouncing basic English words: flaccid becomes flassid and he makes waning rhyme with planning. It's all painful to listen to.
The story is, however, amazing and a delight.

I come back to this book every other year or so. While nothing is quite like reading it for the first time, it never fails to thrill. I have yet to read it's equal.
The narrator did a wonderful job of conveying emotion, both written and inferred, and the booktrack version leant itself to creating a chilling atmosphere.

Extraordinary!
Revisado: 10-18-21
This is one of those books where you feel very strongly that the author has a whole story intricately woven in their heads and they are feeding the readers a scrap at a time. Even though we want it all at once to gorge on, we take the bits and are hungry for more.
This story has characters with a strong foundation, a good setting, and a deep seated history that propels forward the current events.
The main protagonists are likeable and sympathetic. You really feel like they are friends and understandable. The villains are appropriately loathsome and threatening. It has been a joy watching characters grow.
The whole thing is turned into a remarkable experience listening to the audio book. The narrator is truly marvelous at each individual character, accents and patterns of speech. She is consistent with pronunciation, and has wide range and a smooth voice. I'm SO glad she narrates the whole series.
