Good idea, completely unlikable protagonist
Revisado: 07-26-23
I love the premise of all three books. But it is hard to sit through the story as presented from the protagonists point of view. The level of judgmental
whitesavior elitist snobbery is hard to stomach. If you live in a world where everyone is rich white and only wears jcrew or if you are comfortable with constantly weighing characters based on their physical attractiveness or taking on relationships with an adolescent level of emotional maturity you might not be bothered.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Don’t ready if you enjoy well written female characters
Revisado: 05-12-20
This was basically Manic Pixie Dream Girl of the south.
Despite having a long history of abuse and neglect the main character is still objectified by the author and never given true emotional depth or motivations beyond being “the mysterious girl in the marsh”.
More time was spent developing pre-teen sex scenes than actual emotional complexity.
You know the infuriating parts of tv shows where they write unbelievable behaviors in purely to propel an illogical plot line? That is this story.
