Historia
A Course Called Ireland is the story of a walking-averse golfer who treks his way around an entire country, spending 16 weeks playing every seaside hole in Ireland. Along the way, he searches out his family's roots, discovers that a once-poor country has been transformed by an economic boom, and finds that the only thing tougher to escape than Irish sand traps are Irish pubs.

Narrator is too bad to finish this!
Revisado: 06-17-22
I read the reviews that criticized the narrator's accent and chose to ignore them. HUGE mistake! I can't listen to anymore of this. It is not only an AUSTRALIAN accent, it is a BAD Australian accent.
If he couldn't do the accent, he should have just read it in his normal voice. His attempt is painful to listen to.
I do not recommend the Audible version of this book unless you have a lot of patience, or have never heard an Irish accent before, and won't know the difference.
I knowingly chose to ignore similar reviews, and deserve to lose my credit. Don't make the same mistake I made.

This series is played out and no need for this or any more. The first two were fun and interesting, but this offers nothing new to the first two and I feel it was a waste of time.

Historia
In 410 CE, arrogant 16-year-old Magonus Sucatus Patricius denounces Christianity as a religion for cowards when the Roman legions withdraw, leaving Britain vulnerable to raiders from the west. Determined to wield a sword despite being the grandson of a priest, the affluent young man is taken captive by barbarians and sold into slavery to a cruel Irish king. On a mountaintop in Eire, a shepherd strips him of his grand Roman name and calls him Padraic, marking him a man of no consequence.

Loved the idea of this and while it was interesting enough to stay with it, it was just barely. Could have been half the length. Can't recommend this unless you have read everything else and just need something a bit Irish.

Historia
David Cameron was elected Conservative leader in 2005, promising to modernize the party following its three successive electoral defeats. He became Prime Minister in 2010, forming Britain’s first coalition government in 70 years, at a moment of economic crisis, and went on to win the first outright Conservative majority for 23 years at the 2015 general election.

Very insightful.
Revisado: 10-26-19
Enjoyed this book very much. Cameron does a great job of explaining his thoughts behind many of the things he did right and wring during his long career in Politics. I have a new respect for why he called for the referendum along with many other things. He also does a great job of narrating the book.
Highly recommend it.

Historia
Jean McConville's abduction was one of the most notorious episodes of the vicious conflict known as The Troubles. Everyone in the neighborhood knew the I.R.A. was responsible. But in a climate of fear and paranoia, no one would speak of it. In 2003, five years after an accord brought an uneasy peace to Northern Ireland, a set of human bones was discovered on a beach. McConville's children knew it was their mother when they were told a blue safety pin was attached to the dress--with so many kids, she had always kept it handy for diapers or ripped clothes.

The way all History books should be!
Revisado: 05-11-19
I can’t say enough good things about this book. I have read many nonfiction books that claimed to read like a novel but few have. This book brought the subject matter to life like few books ever have. Regardless of your knowledge or interest in NI history and The Troubles, you will be fascinated by this story. Need more stars to rank this fairly.

Historia
Taking place during the most critical period of our nation’s birth, The First Conspiracy tells a remarkable and previously untold piece of American history that not only reveals George Washington’s character, but also illuminates the origins of America’s counterintelligence movement that led to the modern day CIA. In 1776, an elite group of soldiers were handpicked to serve as George Washington’s bodyguards. Washington trusted them; relied on them. But unbeknownst to Washington, some of them were part of a treasonous plan.

Brad Meltzer Fan disappointed.
Revisado: 01-26-19
I Love Brad’s work and have read everything and gone to signings to meet him. So its not easy to say I was very disappointed in this book. It was written as though it was a script for a History Channel television show. The “teasers” at the end of every chapter drove me crazy! I felt like he was trying to make sure i come back after the break constantly. It was dragged out well beyond what the material called for.
Brad is a great historical fiction writer and i expected his non fiction to read like a novel but this was more like a novel he expected to be made into television.
Scott Brick was as great as ever!

Historia
"Marley was dead to begin with...." These chillingly familiar words begin the classic Christmas tale of remorse and redemption in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Now R. William Bennett rewinds the story and focuses the spotlight on Scrooge’s miserly business partner, Jacob T. Marley, who was allowed to return as a ghost to warn Scrooge away from his ill-fated path. Why was Marley allowed to return? And why hadn’t he been given the same chance as Ebenezer Scrooge? Or had he?

Revisado: 12-15-18
This was very well written and it tied in beautifully with A Christmas Carol. So well done i had to remind myself that it was not Dickens giving some of the backstory. Im a huge fan of the original and was skeptical about listening to this but i will revisit it every Christmas season.

When it comes to health, there is one criminally overlooked element: sleep. Good sleep helps you shed fat for good, stave off disease, stay productive, and improve virtually every function of your mind and body. That's what Shawn Stevenson learned when a degenerative bone disease crushed his dream of becoming a professional athlete. Like many of us, he gave up on his health and his body...until he decided there must be a better way.

Google "sleep tips" for better suggestions
Revisado: 03-09-18
Wow! what a waste of time. Unless you are willing to change your entire life in ways you never thought possible, you will never be able to say anything in this book helped you. He suggests so many impractical things that allow him to say you didn't gain anything because you didn't do this, this, or that! If you can change your lifestyle anywhere near what this guy suggests, then you are blessed. Otherwise, just look up sleep tips on google.

Daniel Graham MacCormick - Mac for short - seems to have a pretty good life. At age 35 he's living in Key West, owner of a 42-foot charter fishing boat, The Maine. Mac served five years in the army as an infantry officer, with two tours in Afghanistan. He returned with the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, scars that don't tan, and a boat with a big bank loan. Truth be told, Mac's finances are more than a little shaky. One day Mac is sitting in the famous Green Parrot Bar in Key West, contemplating his life....

Revisado: 09-03-17
Worst Scottish accent ever. This performance took me out of the story. I had to work to remember that this Indian sounding person was actually Scottish. The story is fine and quite interesting but I'm shocked no one told this performer he sounds as far from Scottish as possible. This book is better read than listened to.
