Historia
Vitalis of the Saxon resistance wearies of leading men to victory, only to next lead them to death at the hands of the invaders. But when an opportunity arises to shame the Norman who claims England’s throne, he takes it, as well as proof of that shaming. Now more than ever, William the Conqueror is determined to capture the rebel leader.

Loved this! Another winner!
Revisado: 05-26-21
I so much loved this book, with the fierce, fiery, and loyal spitfire, Nicola D’Argent, sister to the D’Argent warrior brothers, and Vitalis, the red haired giant Saxon warrior leader of the Rebels of the Pale, who has promised to rescue the kidnapped Nicola despite her unruly temperament and his own endangerment against the Normans for attempting Nichola’s rescue from the Danes.
Again, Leigh has created a book that enables us to see into the Medieval Times and connect with peoples and leaders who lived long ago, and draws us into a web of intrigue and controlled passion. This story is full of action and adventure.
Also, the narrator, Aggliotta, is very gifted! I love the way she portrays the warriors with masculine, gravelly voices, and the accents are SO good and add much richness to the tale! Much enjoyment!
Thank you for such a wonderful read! I recommend! Wish I could see these books made into movies. I love so much that these books feature principled hero’s and heroines who uplift and strengthen us!

Historia
Chevalier Maël D’Argent lost more than his striking looks when he aided the Duke of Normandy in taking the English throne from King Harold. As much by his own actions at the Battle of Hastings as those of the enemy, he lost his sire and his honor in breaking faith with his family. Believing himself unworthy of forgiveness, his ruined face the least due him, Maël now serves a ruthless man bent on subduing Saxons resistant to Norman rule.

I’m biggest fan and addicted...
Revisado: 05-22-21
I decided I HAVE to do a review on each of Leigh’s books as I have read everyone that is out at least once (except “LAWLESS”, which I get on Monday!) and purchased the audibles and listened to them all at LEAST three times over the last year since I started reading and listening.
This is a great book where the hero and heroine have faults and imperfections. For instance, Sir Mael has physical scars and guilt, Mary Sarah a hidden identity. But I love that Sir Mael shows strength of moral character, tenacity, tenderness, and respect; Mary Sarah shows pluck, charity, and strength.
I appreciate the speech, which seems true to the time era and really adds to the medieval flavor, and I also love the narrator. So realistic!
I don’t know how the author describes in great detail fights and battles, but they are described exquisitely and full of action, yet also are tastefully done.
And yet, the story(s) has a strong faith base with a family featuring the D’Argent family of warriors.
I feel like Leigh has done her research well, and we are transported into the fascinating and horrifying time period of William the Conqueror.
Thank you so much for adding richness and color, and a spiritual quality to my life. The very best medieval romance author I’ve had the pleasure of reading. I whole heartedly recommend.
