Historia
The day that changed Melody's life was like any other over the previous two years. She'd found she had a gift for writing, and her career as an author had almost healed the pain of losing her job. When the Secret Service rang her bell, everything changed. Something was nearing Saturn…and it was slowing down. Had she been right about the object?

Historia
Merritt Alder is done with Earth. The planet is polluted and overpopulated, and its people are hungry. Earth's first colony, Galena, is a pioneer world 10,000 light years away. It has clean air, unpolluted water, and continents of arable land. Anyone can start a new life…if they can get there. For Merritt, the journey is only the beginning. Obstacles arise every step of the way, forcing compromise and sacrifice. And not everyone on his ship is pure of heart. The bonds he forges on the journey will be the key to surviving on another world—a world anyone has yet to fully explore.

The revised and updated edition of Lt. Col. Dave Grossman's modern classic about the psychology of combat, hailed by the Washington Post as "an illuminating account of how soldiers learn to kill and how they live with the experiences of having killed". In World War II, only 15 to 20 percent of combat infantry were willing to fire their rifles. In Korea, about 50 percent. In Vietnam, the figure rose to more than 90 percent. The good news is that most soldiers are loath to kill.

We Kill For You
Revisado: 10-02-22
Very few, but more than you think, Veterans served within a Unique blend of Military Units. When these Units deployed, it was going to be a very Bad Day or Night for someone. Them or Us or for both Them and Us.
Negotiations were over and it was Time for Someone to meet their maker.
From the Vietnam War to the Early 2000’s, Elite Warriors called “Hunter/Killer”
AeroScouts and GrndScouts that would directly Assault and Nowadays the Government and Military refer to it as “Rendering Them, the Targets Totally Harmless. There was No turning back, No Contemplation, No Questioning any part of tthe Order.
In my world, it was called a Confirmed Kill, if it was witnessed by 1 or 2 others.
The Status of a individuals Enemy Confirmed Kill Count was a Real Status Symbol and if you survived.. a Fantastic Military and eventually Civilian Contract work.
I feel these are some very Special Men and Women Warriors that:
“Kill for a Living”
Few are left but those that still exist, are now dealing with Grief and Guilt.
We find we learn to deal with the Grief and Guilt
But: those of Us that are totally Guilty of the Guilt.
Not asking to erase the vivid daily and evening thoughts of the past.
Just want to learn a way to accept these challenges and move on.
Your correct, Utilizing a blade to Terminate a Target is different than firing a weapon from any distance, including Point Blank. (Rare)
Sorry about this Review.
This book brought out the true consequences of War. The real expense of cost over profit. For every dollar made from the Vietnam war alone. $397 cost vs. every $1.00 of
Profit.
By the way:
One question
How do you, The United States WIN a war. What do we get to show for the effort and Loses.
We don’t take over their land.
We don’t force a military pulpit Government to do our biddings.
We don’t take their Money from their banks
We don’t rob their Natural Resources
So what the Hell do we gain by sending our men and women into Harms Way. When usually we have no Real Gain as a country from War.
Just the Grief and Guilt
Unless your a
Politician.
I mean all due respect to those that deserve it.

Very well written and performed. Just enough technical information combined with drama suspense and excitement. I recommend this book to all SF Aficionados. I’m really looking forward to Deep Black. By the way, I appreciate the author moving along within the storyline and not bogging down with technicalities and to many explanations.

I found myself immersed into the story from the very beginning. Author and Narrator developed plenty of mind candy and I could nearly place myself within the scene.

After the untimely death of his mentor, Berkeley physicist Joshua Andrews has dedicated himself to finishing his mentor’s life work: Creating entangled particles that can communicate faster than light. When scientific journalist Rachael Miller comes to interview him at his lab, they make an astounding discovery, one as ancient as the universe itself. During the early moments of the Big Bang, entangled particles were created that spread with the expansion of the universe creating a subatomic communication network - a network that Joshua and Rachael have accidentally tapped into.

A “Must Read” for ALL
Revisado: 10-28-20
The deep thought, research, and story development is one of the best and most refreshing Science Fiction Books that I have ever read or listened to.
A great story line and very plausible future that I for one have had a whole new insight presented to me, thanks to this novel.
Doing the right thing, sometimes is very difficult to do, especially when doing either is Questionable.
