Shelly Laurenston always rocks!
Revisado: 02-04-14
What did you love best about Big Bad Beast?
I already have all of the books in this series in ebook format and I have been looking for them to be presented in audiobook format for years. I'm glad this has finally happened to some of the series books and I impatiently await the others with bated breath. No one does characters that you get attached to, fall in love with and basically what to know what is happening in their lives like Ms. Laurenston's characters. It is like a real family, a real town, that you love to visit.
What other book might you compare Big Bad Beast to and why?
All the books in this series are great. I first discovered this series when Ms. Laurenston wrote for Samhain Publishing in ebook format an I believe she has garnered a wide audience because she is such a great writer. There are only a few authors that have made me have such a strong connection to their creations and a couple of them are Michelle Sagara's Chronicles of Elantra Series or Laurell K. Hamilton's Meredith Gentry Series. When I know one of their books is being released, I pre-order and wait impatiently for months for that date to arrive. However, even though these are all sci-fi fantasies you can't really compare apples and oranges. The comparison is only in the context of strength of character.
Have you listened to any of Charlotte Kane’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
She is great. The different voices and character interpretation of Ms. Kane is right on the money. She has nailed Ms. Laurenston's characters. Ms. Kane is a great match for the characters in this series. I don't think I have any other audiobooks narrated by Ms. Kane.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Smithville, Not just your average southern town.
Any additional comments?
Put all of Ms. Laurenston pride and pack series on audiobook. PLEASE!

Historia
Olivia Kiskey needs a change. She’s been working at the same Nodaway Falls, New York, waffle house since she was a teenager; not a lot of upward mobility there. She’s been in love with Tobias, the cook, for the last four years; he's never made a move. Intent on shaking things up, Olivia puts her house on the market, buys a one-way ticket to Europe, and announces her plans to her friends - but then she meets Davina Granville, a strange and mystical Southern woman....

The Heroine Needs Backbone!
Revisado: 02-04-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book kept me entertained and it was a good story with an unusual plot; however, the lead character needed her A** kicked. In the beginning, okay she was naïve and clueless but throughout the story she kept making stupid decisions. This heroine seriously needed some backbone and a clue. Everyone she knew for years kept giving her advice yet she listened to and trusted the person she had known for the least amount of time. I wanted to strangle her as the book continued through to the end. I guess if the strong emotions I felt could rate this story; it was excellent.
Would you recommend A Little Night Magic to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes I would recommend this audiobook to a friend; if only to show how irritating the main character was.
Which character – as performed by Amanda Ronconi – was your favorite?
Amanda Ronconi is always a great narrator. But her characterization of Davina Granville was spot on. At first sincere and then creepy as h***.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not a particular moment; however, about halfway through the book I was yelling at the main character. OUT LOUD.
Any additional comments?
I have never had such mixed emotions about the story and the lead character. I want to think I would have enjoyed the book more if the character of Olivia had grown in strength as the book progressed but maybe the author knows better than me.

They say even the most damned man can be forgiven. I never believed that until the night Astrid opened her door to me and made this feral beast want to be human again. Made me want to love and be loved. But how can an ex-slave whose soul is owned by a Greek goddess ever dream of touching, let alone holding, a fiery star?

Makes you laugh, makes you cry.
Revisado: 02-22-13
Would you consider the audio edition of Dance with the Devil to be better than the print version?
Yes the audio version lets you experience another dimension with the tallents of the narrator giving personality and unique accents to each character. I thoroughly enjoyed this dark hunter novel in audio format.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dance with the Devil?
When the author let it be known that Zarek lived in that shack in Alaska all alone whittiling even the walls to stay sane. And then finding out he gave them away to his neighbors in the town unbenownst to any of them.
Which scene was your favorite?
When he was allowed to finally get rid of his virginity.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It certainly did. I laughed out loud, and cried quietly, experienced anger, hope, hate. I experienced the whole gamut of emotions.
Any additional comments?
Fred Bermnan is the undisputed champion narrator of these novels. However Holter Graham is my second favorive reader of these novels, although his women portrayal is a bit whiney.

Historia
In a world where "witches, vampires, werewolves, and shape-shifters live beside ordinary people" (Booklist), it takes a very unusual woman to call it home. By day, Mercy Thompson is a car mechanic in Eastern Washington. By night, she explores her preternatural side. As a shape-shifter with some unusual talents, Mercy's found herself maintaining a tenuous harmony between the human and the not-so- human on more than one occasion. This time she may get more than she bargained for.

OUT OF THE FRYING PAN AND INTO THE FIRE!
Revisado: 10-15-12
Where does Bone Crossed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of my top ten favorites. Mercy has ticked off the local vampires so they put a curse on her garage that cannot be washed off, painted over or otherwise gotten rid of unless the vampire queen deems it. Mercy discretely goes out of town to help an old friend and to stay out of the line of fire. All she has to do is stay away from the ONE vampire in the whole city she is visiting but what does she do? Well you can probably guess that one for yourself. If you can't buy the audio book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bone Crossed?
When she discovers the Oak Tree fully grown in her yard as a thank you from the Oak Fae.
What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?
Everything. She gives you a whole cast of characters and personalties.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed, I cried, I did the snoopy dance, I yelled and I cheered.
Any additional comments?
Patricia Briggs produced a great legacy to leave the the avid readers who just eat this stuff up.

Have Mercy!
Revisado: 10-15-12
Would you listen to River Marked again? Why?
Yes I would, as it is already my second or third..or is it fourth time I have indulged. I love the Mercy Thompson Series. I have all of the books in ebook format and now I have all of them in audio format. It's like good music, it can never get too old. I will listen to them over and over again until my digital copy gives up the ghost.
What other book might you compare River Marked to and why?
I would compare the Mercy Thompson series to the Chronicles of Elantra series by Michelle Sagara. Why do you ask? Because they both have strong female lead characters, who are just aaaa.....Whole Lot unconventional. They go into situations and whadayuno....VICTORY! (I'm doin the snoopy dance). I just love it.
What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?
Lorelei King is one of the best narrator's out there. She can do male voices, female voices, children voices, probably even pet voices. She Rocks!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Werewolves and Faiery's and Vampires..OH MY!! Demons and Ghosts and Sorcerers...OH MY!! Witches and Warlocks and Walkers...OH MY!! ....Wait...What's a Walker? Mercedes Thompson that's who.

Just Average!
Revisado: 10-15-12
What did you like best about Blaze of Memory? What did you like least?
I have read previous books in the Psy Changling series however they were in print format and I must say that I enjoyed them. The one audio book that I did hear from my digital library was Kiss of Snow and I really loved it. I bought this book because of how much I enjoyed KOS however this audiobook fell well short of that one. I don't know if after so many books in the series the narrator improved or what but I really had to make myself finish this one. Sorry to say I purchsed the next three in the series since they were having a sale so I am deeply hoping the next installment fares much better than this one. These charachers were not at all they type you could warm up to, or root for, or really connect with. It could easily be a stand alone read and wouldn't detract from the series at all if it was skipped. The characters were just not real enough.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Yeah! I'm finally at the end.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was not at all outstanding. I disliked the disconnection to the characters and their issues. I want to feel involved in the story and I just did not with this book.
What would have made this romance irresistible?
A Connection to the characters wants and needs, In this book I really didn't care one way or the other.
Any additional comments?
I hope the next installment in the series is much better than this one.

Historia
It was just another after-work happy-hour bar downtown, where business professionals unwound with a few drinks, complained about the boss, maybe hooked up with someone for the night. Until something went terribly wrong. At first it was just a friction in the air. The noise intensified. The crowd seemed oppressive. Some sharp words were exchanged, some pushing and shoving. Then the madness descended. And after 12 minutes of chaos and violence, 80 people lay dead.

The In Death Series Kills! (lol pun intended)
Revisado: 10-15-12
If you could sum up Delusion In Death in three words, what would they be?
Spectacular Eve Dallas!
What did you like best about this story?
It's not just this story, it is about reconnecting with all your favorite characters in the whole series. Just like the character Eve, I have adopted them all like a second family. Whenever I see a new In Death book come out I purchase it immediately, no questions asked because I know I will love it.
What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?
Susan is Eve, ..and Roarke,.. and Peabody,.. and McNab.. and Mavis,.. and Bella. If she did no other series of books, I would say she was one of the best if not the best narrator's I have ever listened to.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Bad Asses Beware in 2565, Eve Dallas and company is watching!...and waiting.

It has been a busy few weeks for Private Kaylin Neva. In between angling for a promotion, sharing her room with the last living female Dragon, and dealing with more refugees than anyone knew what to do with, the unusual egg she'd been given began to hatch. Actually, that turned out to be lucky, because it absorbed the energy from the bomb that went off in her quarters. So now might be the perfect time to leave Elantra and journey to the West March with the Barrani. If not for the disappearances of citizens in the fief of Tiamaris - disappearances traced to the very Barrani Kaylin is about to be traveling with....

What did you like best about Cast in Peril? What did you like least?
The worst thing about cast in Peril was where are the characters we all know and love. who want's to hear about stick up their a**barrani. Who thinks all himans or mortals or slightly above animals in the heirarchy. I thing the'yr about to get a big suprise. And Yea! Kaylin finally lit the dang candle and there wasn't a party! WTf! I really like the little dragom Familiar though.
If you’ve listened to books by Michelle Sagara before, how does this one compare?
Seven out of seven this is my least favorite book in the series
Have you listened to any of Khristine Hvam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
yes she's great in the cast in series books.

Nothing Special
Revisado: 08-25-12
What did you like best about Samurai Game? What did you like least?
I like the Ghost Walker series of books in ebook format however this is the first audio book I have purchased. The story is getting frustrating because Dr. Whitney needs to be taken down and a fresh protagonist created. There are boundless options awaiting, but with Whitney being so untouchable the storyline is getting unrealistic. I think the series could really benefit if he were defeated and the Ghost Walkers can regain their lives and move on to bigger and better things. That being said the narrator of this audio book was hard to listen to. The flat tones he used to portray the Asians and the unrealistic voice of the African American lead in the story was pretty bad. It took me approximately three months to listen to the entire audio book and for me that is extremely long.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The teleporting and the ingenuity of the female lead character.
Did Tom Stechschulte do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
He differentiated the characters however the lead characters were unpleasant to listen to.
Did Samurai Game inspire you to do anything?
Hurry to get to the end of the story.

Seven years ago Kaylin fled the crime-riddled streets of Nightshade, knowing that something was after her. Children were being murdered— and all had the same odd markings that mysteriously appeared on her own skin….Since then, she's learned to read, she's learned to fight and she's become one of the vaunted Hawks who patrol and police the City of Elantra. Alongside the winged Aerians and the immortal Barrani, she's made a place for herself, far from the mean streets of her birth.

Sagara Creates a Whole World!
Revisado: 05-09-12
What made the experience of listening to Cast in Shadow the most enjoyable?
I already have the Cronicles of Elantra series in ebook format but I re-read them often and the is the second book; the first being the prequel, that I have in audio book format. Ms. Sagara has a unique writing style that's very discriptive and spellbinding. In this book Kaylin Neya is reunited with Severn and sparks fly. And Oh there's a chemistry triangle building with Kaylin, Severn and Nightshade, the utterly lickable Barrani Outcast. Plus all of the other characters in the series that make me want to visit often. Can't wait for the next book in the series coming out sometime in September.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Do I just have to pick one. Kaylin, Nightshade, Severn, I love them all.
Which character ??? as performed by Khristine Hvam ??? was your favorite?
Kaylin Neya she's a natural at portraying the character.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Kaylin getting over her fear of the Tha'alani.
