Historia
The great Oglala Sioux chief Red Cloud was the only Plains Indian to defeat the United States Army in a war, forcing the American government to sue for peace in a conflict named for him. At the peak of their chief’s powers, the Sioux could claim control of one-fifth of the contiguous United States. But unlike Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, or Geronimo, the fog of history has left Red Cloud strangely obscured. Now, thanks to painstaking research by two award-winning authors, his incredible story can finally be told.

Told from wrong perspective
Revisado: 04-17-23
This had promise, but I learned a lot more about the supplies that were delivered to various forts than I did about Red Cloud. Red Cloud was mentioned, but as with most books on this topic, it is told from the US perspective. You will learn a lot about the players from the US perspective down to their facial hair. Given Red Cloud’s accomplishments, I mistakenly assumed he would be the focus of the book.

Very interesting story ruined by the narrator
Revisado: 04-17-23
I am not sure why narrators feel the need to take on accents. It is distracting, and most, like this one, aren’t great at them. Other than this, great story.

Historia
In the winter of 1918, at the height of World War I, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS has killed in 24 years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century. But this was not the Middle Ages, and 1918 marked the first collision between modern science and epidemic disease.

Great story

Would have rated higher, but there was a tremendous amount of time spent on people who did the work not on the pandemic itself.

One night in July 1991, two policemen saw a man running handcuffed from the apartment of Jeffrey Dahmer. Investigating, they made a gruesome discovery: three human skulls in Dahmer’s refrigerator and the body parts of at least 11 more people scattered throughout the apartment. Shortly after, Milwaukee Journal reporter Anne E. Schwartz received a tip that would change her life.

More about the reporter than the actual case
Revisado: 02-27-22
Not all the time, but there were times when the author seemed more interested in talking about their role than the relevant story.

Very well done and detailed account
Revisado: 01-11-19
This is very detailed recounting of the life and crimes of Ed Gein. The descriptions of his crimes are quite detailed, so if you are easily bothered, this book might not be for you. We very much enjoyed the book and narration, and would highly recommend it to those interested in learning more about this subject.

Historia
The officer responding to a 911 call at one of Houston's hippest high-rises expected the worst. After all, domestic violence situations can be unpredictable. But nothing could've prepared him for what he found: a beautiful woman drenched in blood, an older man lying dead on the floor, and a cobalt blue suede stiletto with tufts of white hair stuck to its five-and-a-half-inch heel.

Ok...but wouldn’t recommend
Revisado: 01-09-19
The story was somewhat interesting, but dragged on about details and got very repetitive. The narrator was absolutely terrible. The accents were unnecessary, and were comical. This could have been a good book, but it is hard to tell given how bad she was.

Historia
In 1914, the war which was to have been wrapped up by Christmas had - in reality - only just begun, as all sides entrenched themselves deeper into the Great War. Christmas Eve, 1914 follows one company of British officers as they rotate forward to spend their Christmas on the front lines, a mere 80 yards from the German guns. Upper- and working-class men and boys are thrown together into one trench and struggle to survive.

Interesting topic

I found the topic interesting. The narration didn’t do the subject justice, and, at times, detracted from the subject.

Very interesting account of the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar. The book is narrated by the author who can be a little stiff at times, but this isn’t a big deal.
