Historia
Twenty-seven-year-old screenwriter Elle has the chance of a lifetime to write a big-budget movie set in New York City. The only problem? She’s had writer’s block for months, and her screenplay is due at the end of the summer. In a desperate attempt at inspiration, Elle ends up back in the city she swore she would never return to, in an apartment she could never afford (floor-to-ceiling windows, skyline views, and a new coffee shop to haunt included).

I hate the FMC
Revisado: 04-03-25
This book was hard for me. I never connected to their story and she was awful to him. What man should just be patient endlessly for someone willing to stomp on his heart so easily? Unrealistic and hard to finish

Historia
Sometimes you’re so busy writing other people’s stories that you can lose the plot of your own. This wasn’t how Kelsey Worthington’s day was supposed to go. She wasn’t supposed to be picking up Starbucks for her smarmy boss. She wasn’t supposed to get hit by a car that jumped the curb. And she certainly wasn’t supposed to wake up in a hospital room next to Georgina Tate—the legendary matriarch of New York City businesswomen.

Terrible story and characters.

I guess I’m not as forgiving. It was hard for me to believe that these men would just forgive a wife and mother for abandoning them. I also couldn’t start either reader.

Historia
One peaceful morning, in the small, Puget Sound town of Point Orchards, the lifeless body of Dr. Erin Landry is found hanging from a tree on the property of prodigal son and failed writer, Elijah Leith. Sheriff Jim Godbout’s initial investigation points to an obvious suicide, but upon closer inspection, there seem to be clues of foul play when he discovers that the circumstances of the beautiful doctor’s death were ripped straight from the pages of Elijah Leith’s own novel.

Barely finished
Revisado: 06-17-24
There wasn’t enough character development. I didn’t care what happened. And the change of past to present didn’t work for me in this book. I almost gave up many times.

Historia
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.

Worst Performance Ever
Revisado: 02-14-20
Ugh. This was painful. I would’ve returned it but I was reading this for a book club. Important information but way too much detail and horrible accents and just a hard voice to listen to.

Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

New narrator
Revisado: 12-29-17
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I have listened to a couple Kristan Higgins' books that are narrated by Xe Sands and I'm not a fan. She makes the characters seem so unlikable and depressed. I read reviews that some people love her, but to me, her voice is so distinct that I can't separate her from each book. I was so disappointed and bothered by her voice that I almost stopped listening and just read the book myself. But you can't beat an audiobook that allows chores to be done while listening to a book.
