Loved it cover to cover

Really enjoyed this book by Tom Clancy. As with all the books attention to detail, explanations, plot development were top class. Of course the one might argue about probability of outcomes described in the plot but overall it was a very entertaining and captivating read.

From age 15 to 40, David Hackworth devoted himself to the US Army and fast became a living legend. In 1971, however, he appeared on television to decry the doomed war effort in Vietnam. With About Face, he has written what many Vietnam veterans have called the most important book of their generation.

Capturing warrior story
Revisado: 12-26-24
I loved the detail and introspection the author had about his career as a warrior. Although you might argue against what kind of person David Hackworth was, he was not apologetic about the decisions he thought he could have made better.

Historia
Scott Manson and London City are in Athens battling for the UEFA Champion's League title. The situation in Athens is tense, and some of City's players are so unpopular in Greece they've been assigned bodyguards. Karaiskakis Stadium is packed to the rafters when tragedy strikes, Christoph Bundchen collapses and dies mid-match. Is it a heart attack? Or something more sinister?

As always dark narration of one of the best British authors
Revisado: 07-15-24
Darkly narrated story about the murky world of professional football. Philip Kerr as always masterfully colours the fictitious story about Scott Manson, a manager of London City involving murder, intrigues and promiscuity. “Nothing gets solved the way you imagine it should be solved” is definitely the quote best describing this book and something I take out with me after reading it.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

Historia
The Art of Rest draws on groundbreaking research Claudia Hammond collaborated on - 'The Rest Test' - the largest global survey into rest ever undertaken, which was completed by 18,000 people across 135 different countries. Much of value has been written about sleep, but rest is different; it is how we unwind, calm our minds and recharge our bodies. And, as the survey revealed, how much rest you get is directly linked to your sense of well-being.

Another great book from Nathan McBride series. This book sheds light on kinder character features of the protagonist. Also, I admired author’s focus on differences between the killer and the person stopping the killer. Worth every minute.

Historia
Thirty-five-year-old Mohammed bin Salman's sudden rise stunned the world. Political and business leaders flew out to meet with the crown prince and came away convinced that his desire to reform the kingdom was sincere. He spoke passionately about bringing women into the workforce and toning down Saudi Arabia's restrictive Islamic law. He lifted the ban on women driving and explored investments in Silicon Valley. But 'MBS' began to betray an erratic interior beneath the polish laid on by scores of consultants and public relations experts like McKinsey & Company.

Historia
Economic sanctions dominate the landscape of world politics today. First developed in the early twentieth century as a way of exploiting the flows of globalization to defend liberal internationalism, their appeal is that they function as an alternative to war. This view, however, ignores the dark paradox at their core: designed to prevent war, economic sanctions are modeled on devastating techniques of warfare.
