Historia
The Yellowstone super-eruption has put an end to modern civilization. As cities and countries continue to fall, the colony of Rivendell in the alternate Earth known as Outland looks more and more like the only real hope for humanity. But life in Rivendell isn’t getting any simpler, either. Bill and Kevin continue to discover new worlds; the population continues to rise; winter is approaching; and everyone has their own opinion about how things should be run.

Seems more like the setup for another couple

Less concerned with a story and more concerned with world building. Loved Avery thing by Dennis but I think he has grand ideas for rivendaile

Historia
Corrigan Bain was retired. It wasn’t something he ever thought he’d be able to do. The problem was that the job he wanted to retire from wasn’t actually a job at all: Nobody paid him to do it, and nobody else did it. With very few exceptions, nobody even knew he was doing it. Corrigan called himself a fixer, because he fixed accidents that were about to happen. It was complicated and unrewarding, and even though doing it right meant saving someone, he didn’t enjoy it.

Loved the first but enjoyed this more. I’d love to keep these up and keep exploring what it would be like to be a fixer!

Just so wordy.
Revisado: 09-28-22
Idea was good. Thought provoking even. Aliens were good. But the whole thing could have been much shorter and much clearer. Lots of times I was just wondering what the hell was even going on. Seemed like 5 minutes of talking to say ‘what he saw scared him’ . Also… I was a math major in college and loved topology, but if I hear that word one more time I’m going to lose it.

Now, at age 16, it's time to leave Earth, and he's forced to face what he must leave behind in exchange for an uncertain future. Then the news hits that another ship is already headed to colonize Mars, and the Neo-Luddite terrorist group begins threatening the Mars One project.

Way way to much teen mopey behavior

I never write reviews, I don’t know why I feel the urge to be negative today but here goes.
The writing itself was decently good. Felt like I got a clear picture of what the author was trying to convey. The premise was decent as well. Star crossed lovers and all. However….
Honestly it felt like the big problem that had to be solved was written in well after the main story. Almost like the novel was passed back to the author with the note, rewrite with a little more drama or at least a dramatic event.
Narrator was good, but I was glad when the book was over. I won’t miss any of the characters.

Love Clines... this one was meh.
Revisado: 05-24-22
Love the universe Peter Clines created. But he's the best when there are more characters and they can all interact. I found this one merely ok. I do like his writing style so much though.

2 books in a row now that when the story ends it's like saying goodbye to great friends. I didn't want my time with them to end.
