The events that began at Pride Lodge come to a riveting conclusion. Ably narrated, these characters seem like old friends you just want to spend more time with as they hunt a cunning serial killer during Pride Week in NYC.

This second book in the Kyle Callahan series takes many of the characters of the first book and fleshes them out to make them people you care about. Add to that mix a serial killer pursued by a mature gay couple living in Manhattan, and you have an atypical murder mystery that takes you away from your daily troubles to live in the LGBT senior culture of New York. The narrator has latched to the personalities of the characters and does a great job.

I loved it! This is a stand out because unlike other gay mysteries, the folks at Pride Lodge are LGBT people who are over the age of 50. The author captures this phase of LGBT life in a very engaging and insightful way and with a great deal of wit and humour. Pride Lodge becomes a very real place -- I have even had a dream about it. The second in the series is about to become an audiobook an I can't wait.

Any additional comments?

When I heard of David's passing, it was a like a very close friend of mine had died. I never met him, but I knew him so well through his books. His essays take you along on the journey of his life with all its laughter, tears and ironies. Reading his own words, he takes you inside his head, and in this book, through his struggle with cancer that took his life. Don't be afraid to make David your friend, to laugh and cry with him as he exposes the absurdities of our culture with wit and insight. Read his works and he will always be with you.
