Historia
While advanced age is revered by some, very few of us are in a hurry to get there. This guide treats physical well-being and spiritual growth as two sides of a coin. It is custom-crafted for midlife and later by addressing both eternal verities and physical health. Yoga, the time-honored philosophy of which headstands and downward-facing dogs are only a fragment, doesn't sugarcoat: physical life will end and material joys, as lovely as they can be, are temporary.

Useful Advice on Living Longer!
Revisado: 03-21-25
There is a thing I noticed about books by Victoria Moran. She talks directly to you. She never talks down or preaches from some spiritual hilltop. She simply shares her experience like a mother or a caring teacher. Which she is. She has a calming peaceful voice that is pleasant wether leading a meditation or reading a recipe. Here she'll do those things and more. In this book she discloses solid advice about living longer and is able to connect yogic wisdom to good ol' common sense for an witty entertaining adventure! Enjoy!!

Historia
America’s backstory is a whitewashed mythology implanted in our collective memory. It should come as no surprise that the dominant narrative of American history is blighted with errors and oversights—after all, history books were written by white men with their perspectives at the forefront. It could even be said that the devaluation and erasure of the Black experience is as American as apple pie. In Black AF History, Michael Harriot presents a more accurate version of American history.

Wow! This book is a lot to process. In a world where some would rather bury or burn this info. i'm glad it stands as a record. A jumping off point where people could write down names and places and do further study. Many diffrent kinds of black history is written here but i really enjoyed his personal and family history which is woven throughout the book.

Elwood Blues (aka Dan Aykroyd) is on another mission—to tell the full story of how two young actors went from blues lovers to Blues Brothers. In this fascinating audio documentary Aykroyd “gets the band back together”, taking listeners on a road trip through time—from late nights in the early days with John Belushi at Dan’s speakeasy in Toronto, to working with blues legends Aretha Franklin, James Brown, and Ray Charles on The Blues Brothers movie, through the founding of House of Blues, the Blues Brothers 2000 sequel, and beyond.

Fantastic to hear the motivations behind the Blues Brothers and everyones recollections. Jim Belushis audience with James Brown was especially touching. I really appreciate Dan giving a peek behind the curtain. Kudos! If you are a fan I highly reccomend.

More Than A Retelling of Huck Finn
Revisado: 06-19-24
This has got to be the fastest book I ever went through! it's informative, action packed, suspensful, infuriating and heartbreaking at times. the voice acting is superb. All the code switching was fascinating to hear. This book has me looking at the original book in a whole diffrent light. I originally heard about this book through word of mouth and it did not dissapoint!! if I gleaned one thing from this book is that intelligence is the greatest weapon forged! Needless to say expect this book to be banned in some places, so check it out while you can!

Little things, like loss, love, a world war, and a hunger that has eaten at him since he was a Black boy on his own.

Easy Does it!
Revisado: 06-08-24
I feel like I've been growing up with Easy Rawlins. Stopping in and checking out what he's up to. its a comfortable feeling. Part mystery, history lesson and this time a meditation on trust. For the seasoned reader you know all the characters and world building Mosley is famous for, there's also new characters and laying some groundwork for future stories and I think could lead to possible spin offs. Boatmans reading, acting out the parts is top tier! A enjoyable read that kept me guessing till the end. Kudos!

Historia
Aram Sinnreich and Jesse Gilbert explore the many unpredictable, and often surprising, ways in which data surveillance, AI, and the constant presence of algorithms impact our culture and society in the age of global networks. The authors build on this basic premise: no matter what form data takes, and what purpose we think it’s being used for, data will always have a secret life. How this data will be used, by other people in other times and places, has profound implications for every aspect of our lives—from our intimate relationships to our professional lives to our political systems.

Tackles Daunting Subject with Aplomb and Elan
Revisado: 05-23-24
I grabbed this book originally to confirm my biases and paranoias about big data and how i should pack up and live in a cabin in the woods but these talented writers talked me off the ledge with relateable, amusing anecdotes, intelligent, well informed interviews, laying out in-depth research in conversational plain speak so i wasn't confused or dashing to the dictionary ever paragraph. it did keep me on the edge of my seat and It even left me with (dare i say) a feeling of hope for the future. I also have to give props to the reader who was personable and gave FM Deejay/ Podcaster vibes that was easy on the ears and brain. This book would make a great Netflix documentary. I also have the physical version of this book so I can go back and underline passages and do further research on some ideas that were touched upon. Very curious to in a couple of years how close predictions pondered about here come to pass. Time will tell.

Historia
The roots of racism and persecution in Tomsson Black's ancestry are deep and staggering. In his own lifetime, his misfortunes have become unbearable and, as they mount, serve as an impetus for a final and cataclysmic act of vengeance—the violent overthrow of white society. When acclaimed crime writer Chester Himes died in Spain in 1984, it was rumored that an unfinished story in the Harlem Detective series existed that had all but extinguished his heroes and their fraught city in an explosive paroxysm of racial strife.

Trigger Warnings A Plenty
Revisado: 03-07-24
A fan of the Grave Digger & Coffin Ed series I went in expecting a hard boiled detective novel but what I got was.. You know that joke the Aristocrats where each commedian tries to out offend each other? it is a fascinating work of art that at this time and place seems ironic and completely on brand for America right now. There is some biting sarcasm and parody of behaviors thats had me scared, angry and laughing saying is he kidding me? There is a nice addendum at the end that talks about Himes creation of this unfinished story as well reactions of the French press. This book is fascinating on many levels and not for the easily offended. Check it out if you dare.

Revisado: 02-04-24
This book is thought provoking to say the least. it brings up a lot of possibilities that can be frightening but gives exercizes to help you be present and process your feelings no matter your place in life. it also gives a lot of practical advice and feels like ultimately, eventually the seeds of a new way of peaceful coexistance. Fascinating, well crafted story that kept me listening back to sections so i wouldn't miss a detail. the future world was plausable and not hackneyed or corny, and I wanted to stay and learn more. the Narrator's interpretations of the characters fit with what i envisioned. (im also reading the physical book simultaneously and using it for reference of futurepast incidents.)

Life in America a generation from now isn't much different from today: The drugs are better, the daily grind is worse. The gap between the rich and the poor has widened to a chasm. You can store the world's legal knowledge on a chip in your little finger, while the Supreme Court has decreed that constitutional rights don't apply to any individual who challenges the system.
