Ten hours of story 17 hours of boredom

Pandora's Star has potential, but the author goes into mind numbing detail of anything he writes about. I often wondered if he was not a repressed fashion designed, because every character has to be given a full detail of his/her outfit every time he/she shows up in the story. there were points where I just had to fast forward the story and I still did not miss anything important. If you're looking for high action look somewhere else.

This story was an excellent quick history of both the Russian and American space programs. The main theme of the story about the astronauts who were stranded on the International Space Station after the loss of the Columbia shuttle in 2003; I found fascinating.

The side tracks the author made on the history of the program gave a lot more insight into the differing mentalities of the American and Russians Astronauts.

The only detractor to this book, for me, was that I felt that the author got overly flowery in describing certain scenes, but that is not often.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a better idea of what it is like to be an astronaut.

In the Afterwards the author says that this story was originally supposed to be a trilogy but he is now making it seven books with the last one being multi-thousand pages. I think he should have stuck with his original plan. The story line is plodding and you can only hear about the colonial life so much before you want to scream to get on with it.

I might have finished this story line if it were a trilogy but thinking of having to listen to six more books meandering along is more than I can take.

Stephen king has gone over the edge with this one. The book was entertaining at times, but I can't figure out if Stephen King is a self depricating megalomaniac, drinking more than he claims during the writting of the novel, or trying to give meaning to his life.

If you read the rest of the books you probably will have to read this one because you've come so far, and it is so close to ending, but I suggest you rent it from the library.

Best Overview of physics I have read (heard)

I have read many of the books of this genre, and this book does the best job of breaking down each subject and explaining it in very easy to understand concepts.

Although if I heard about the milk unspilling or the egg unbreaking one more time I was going to scream!
