Historia
In 1922, Count Alexander Rostov is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, and is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel’s doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery.

An instant classic!
Revisado: 04-03-23
This book brings you to an upscale hotel in Moscow, around 1930-50's, the imagery is lush, the verbiage is rich and gorgeous, almost melodical. If you like a good old fashioned spy novel, this one is stellar, so many tiny details to note, right up to the end (and what an ending!)
It surprised me, how much I loved this book.

Pretty good. Classic boy hates girl for cheating, tries to kill her with a sawed off shotgun, kills her boyfriend instead, all in the setting of a lovely trailer park.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Exceptional Memoir
Revisado: 01-16-23
Harry is a wonderful narrator of his own book, his voice is paced well and so soothing.
The telling of the tales was gentle, respectful, careful but extremely candid.
He made me feel like a close friend, listening to his most private and heartbreaking memories.
I cannot believe he was never hugged by his family, except of course for his mum.
I loved the recollections of his Mum and how much he loves her and feels her with him, still.
What surprised me was how spiritual he is naturally, he is an empath, like me, I understood how he was experiencing things.
This book is a must read, beautiful, harrowing, deeply sad, but most of all loving.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Charlie Ovid, despite a brutal childhood in Mississippi, doesn't have a scar on him. His body heals itself, whether he wants it to or not. Marlowe, a foundling from a railway freight car, shines with a strange bluish light. He can melt or mend flesh. When a jaded female detective is recruited to escort them to safety, all three begin a journey into the nature of difference, and belonging, and the shadowy edges of the monstrous. What follows is a story of wonder and betrayal.

Fun to listen to
Revisado: 10-14-22
I liked the story, classic fantasy fare, but the narrator became unbearable as he attempted to mimic higher octave voices, mainly female voices.
Half the time I had issues understanding what Brit was saying because it sounded like a goose in a rock tumbler.

Historia
Josephine Thomas has heard every conceivable theory about her mother's disappearance. That she was kidnapped. Murdered. That she took on a new identity to start a new family. That she was a witch. This is the most worrying charge because in a world where witches are real, peculiar behavior raises suspicions and a woman—especially a Black woman—can find herself on trial for witchcraft.

I rarely review, this book is worth it.
Revisado: 09-24-22
This book a must listen for every teenager and young adult figuring out who they are and whom they want to be.
I wish it had been around for me.
The writing is sophisticated, almost poetic, the story is modern, unexpected and familiar.
I was ready for a witch story, but received so much more.
The narrator is hypnotic, rich and precise (I want her to read everything)

Historia
Dion Fuller sheltered a US marine who'd stolen night vision goggles, and perhaps a few top-secret files, from a nearby military base. Dion found himself arrested (under the ostensible auspices of The Patriot Act) for conspiring with international terrorists to smuggle top-secret military equipment out of Camp Pendleton. The fact that Dion had absolutely nothing to do with international terrorists, smuggling, top-secret military equipment, or Camp Pendleton didn't seem to bother the military.

A bit "Conspiracy Theory-ish"
Revisado: 06-10-22
I had to stop about 20 minutes in to check the description of the book again, I was sure I was reading a fictional novel.
A twisty, frantic paranoid tale that you're sure is ridiculous, until you hear that one theory that you believe in, then it gets weird again.
Worth a listen, some revelations freaked me out, hope they're not true.

Powerful Story
Revisado: 06-02-22
I absolutely could not stop listening!
I devoured this book over two sleepless nights.
This woman lived an amazing, harrowing, chaotic life, she lived out loud, and without apology.
Her 'phoenix from the ashes' resurrection is heart wrenching and brutally laid bare.
A triumph of the spirit, to become what she always was inside.
Highly recommend.

Historia
I'm a 64-year-old retired lawyer and former Assistant Attorney General with an unusual story to tell. Every word of it is true. It happened in a state park known as Devil's Den. For fear of losing my job and damaging my reputation in the legal community, I never spoke about the incident. If it hadn't happened to me, I'd be skeptical too. In 1977, I was an active duty NCO in the USAF. A friend and I planned a two-night camping trip to explore the wilderness. We drove deep into the forest until we came to a high plateau. There on the horizon sat a perfect triangle of three very bright stars....

It leaves me speechless...
Revisado: 02-08-22
At first it felt a bit amateurish, the stories seem haphazard, the narrator (also the author) was less than polished. I was a bit let down, but kept listening.
I am so glad I did, what an amazing, harrowing tale, so rightly told by the man who experienced it all.
Buckle up, he takes you all the way to the moon.

I love (FEAR) the cave stories!
Revisado: 02-06-22
I appreciate that they include interesting scary stories that aren't always murder/rape/kidnapping.
That stuff can really get me down if I listen to too much of it.
I'm claustrophobic, so this was super scary. Way to go guys!
