Historia
The London suburb of Croydon, 1964: Helen Hansford is unmarried and in her thirties. Something of a disappointment to her middle-class parents, she’s an art therapist at the Westbury Park psychiatric hospital, where she has been having a rebellious love affair with her colleague Gil, a dashing but married doctor. One spring afternoon they receive a call about a disturbance at a derelict, vine-covered Victorian house a few miles up the road. There the police find a mute, thirty-seven-year-old man called William Tapping, his hair and beard down to his waist.

Good Story
Revisado: 02-04-25
I found the narrator caused a huge distraction for me. When she would try to imitate the dog and the cat, it was just ridiculous. It was all I could do to ignore it and continue on with the story. I actually thought the story was pretty cute. But, I do regret using one of my credits for such a silly book.

Historia
A woman disappears on her way to work. A man is convicted of her murder. But this case is different. Though the police believe they have the right man, key components of the prosecution case are missing. There is no body of the victim, no witnesses to the crime, no confession and no physical evidence: no DNA, CCTV or murder weapon.

Infuriating
Revisado: 01-04-25
When I think of all the incredible books out there to read spending my time on this one is a disappointment. The quality of sound was dreadful, and when combined with the Scottish accent proved almost impossible to understand at points. And then the complete shock that no one would review this case is just appalling. I don’t know why anyone would read it because by the time you finish, nothing changed from the time he began.

New York Times best-selling author James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux novels began with this first hard-hitting entry in the series. In The Neon Rain, Detective Robicheaux fishes a prostitute's corpse from a New Orleans bayou and finds that no one, not even the law, cares about a dead hooker.

What she doesn’t expect is to be drawn into a web of mystery and intrigue that shows up each and every flaw of the tight-knit islanders. When a box of valuable jewelry is found and given to her for safekeeping she stores it in the church, only for it to be stolen that very night. But something much worse is about to happen.

Sometimes you just want an uncomplicated mystery. This one has the unique advantage of taking place in Scotland. The accent,I thought, was fabulous and I loved the story.

Historia
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has. The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.

Historia
When Pamela Churchill Harriman died in 1997, the obituaries that followed were predictably scathing–and many were downright sexist. Written off as a mere courtesan and social climber, her true legacy was overshadowed by a glamorous social life and her infamous erotic adventures. Much of what she did behind the scenes–on both sides of the Atlantic–remained invisible and secret. That is, until now: with a wealth of fresh research, interviews and newly discovered sources, Sonia Purnell unveils for the first time the full, spectacular story of how she left an indelible mark on the world today.

Remarkable
Revisado: 10-09-24
There is no doubt that Pamela Harrington was a remarkable woman. It will always be controversial whether or not her beauty and flirtatious nature caused her success. What people seem to forget, and this book makes very clear she put in the work. She never went into a meeting without knowing what she was talking about. It is so sad that her personal life could not have been as successful as the service to both England and America. it is also sad that many people never recognize the true value of the woman.
In the beginning, I found the book could be tedious. It seemed to read more like a list of accomplishments rather than a novel. But as you got into it and realized how remarkable she was, you were completely hooked. Anyone having the success that she did during World War II would’ve been remarkable, but being a woman while doing so, made it all the more difficult and significant . For any warts she might have had she was a strong woman who made the most of what she had.
I liked her, all things considered. And I loved the accompanying PDF, which included wonderful pictures. I would definitely recommend this book.

But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

This was not my favorite Kristen Hannah Book. It is not fair for me to expect the perfection of the nightingale. But as I went through it, I came to appreciate it. It just seems like it took an awful long time for them to begin the process of reconciliation.

I just can’t get enough of cork. It’s beginning to feel like he’s a member of my family and I find myself worrying about him. The world is so chaotic and crazy that it’s nice to be able to read these books by Mr. Krueger. They take my mind off of all of the stuff that makes me so sad. I love all of your books and I highly recommend this one.
