Slow book, interesting concepts

Heaven’s River felt like a big missed opportunity. Taylor introduces some interesting concepts and characters but does very little with them for the majority of the story, opting instead for repetitive plot points and a lot of slow dialogue. The most interesting portion doesn’t come until the last 30 minutes. If you were a fan of the first three books I would still recommend reading in anticipation of whatever comes next (I remain a big Dennis Taylor fan!) As usual Ray Porter does a stellar job with narration.

Really enjoyed this! I haven’t laughed out loud during an audiobook in a while but this had me cackling more than once. A definite fun little read if you loved Eddington’s more substantive novel When Willa Fell

Purchased for a roadtrip and was unable to finish because it was so bad. The book is unnecessarily dialogue-heavy, and the majority of what we listened to read like the imagined sarcasm-laden conversations a jr high school student might imagine after losing an argument.
