Historia
The Years is a personal narrative of the period of 1941 to 2006 told through the lens of memory, impressions past and present - even projections into the future - photos, books, songs, radio, television, and decades of advertising and headlines, contrasted with intimate conflicts and written notes from six decades of diaries. Local dialect, words of the time, slogans, brands, and names for ever-proliferating objects are given a voice here. The voice we recognize as the author's continually dissolves and re-emerges.

Painting with different size brushes
Revisado: 11-20-22
like a painting painted by different size brushes tells one story through different point of views the book is interesting. Certain characters are painted like caricatures but some others are made with deep passion and understanding. Not an easy read and sometimes the writing may not seem to make sense. hopping to enjoy more great works for this young writer in the future.

Historia
Multiverse travel is finally possible, but there’s just one catch: No one can visit a world where their counterpart is still alive. Enter Cara, whose parallel selves happen to be exceptionally good at dying—from disease, turf wars, or vendettas they couldn’t outrun. Cara’s life has been cut short on 372 worlds in total. On this dystopian Earth, however, Cara has survived. Identified as an outlier and therefore a perfect candidate for multiverse travel, Cara is plucked from the dirt of the wastelands.

The desire to expose that politics got on the way
Revisado: 07-28-22
The story is as emotional as unscientific. While there are some good thoughts and interesting plot turns the storyline becomes less and less logical and unbelievable. in the end I didn't even know if that was a novel, tragedy, or comedy, but it is definitely not a good literature.

Historia
Yasmin Ghorami is 26, in training to be a doctor (like her Indian-born father), and engaged to the charismatic, upper-class Joe Sangster, whose formidable mother, Harriet, is a famous feminist. The gulf between families is vast. So, too, is the gulf in sexual experience between Yasmin and Joe. As the wedding day draws near, misunderstandings, infidelities, and long-held secrets upend both Yasmin’s relationship and that of her parents, a “love marriage”, according to the family lore that Yasmin has believed all her life.

Good thoughts & vision, but written for popularism
Revisado: 07-16-22
The plot is realistic, the cultures are properly shown, but I felt deep mistrust the author opening her heart.
Many times it felt to me that certain aspects of the novel were written to reflect the anticipated audience's desires rather than the original vision, that made the plot predictable and me sad of unrealized potential of a very talented author.

well researched
Revisado: 05-25-22
It is refreshing to read a book which does reflect life and does not contain caricatured happy ending. Though I disagree with political views the author unintentionally revealed, I recognize that the book is well researched and based on the real facts I did not know. The characters are well developed and deep. The language is well thought but not too complex. The book possesses some wisdom everybody can learn from.

some characters who developed well and very believable, while others are vague and musty. It was very educational from scientific point of view, but mondaine, irrational, and primitive from social prospective.

In My Parents, Aleksandar Hemon tells the story of his parents’ immigration to Canada - of the lives that were upended by the war in Bosnia and siege of Sarajevo and the new lives his parents were forced to build. As ever with his work, he portrays both the perfect, intimate details (his mother’s lonely upbringing, his father’s fanatical beekeeping), and a sweeping, heartbreaking history of his native country.

Beautiful writing about ...nothing
Revisado: 06-19-20
It is not "about nothing" really, It is about the author's parents, history of Yugoslavia, and a story of immigration. There is the second part of a book with short stories -- very similar to the first one. If you want to check that you'd like the book, you can listen to any of the stories in the second part (the stories are small), and if you like it, you can read the whole book as (my guess) you will have the same impression and emotions.
When I started reading, I was sure to give 5 stars to this book: wonderful writing, good language, interesting characters (not only protagonists) but other characters... Then I just realized how ordinary the characters are and no philosophical, historical, or any issues I could learn from. I realized that despite a nice entertainment value, I would not become wiser reading this book. So I figured I would give this book 4 stars, but continued reading/listening. But then without any need from MHO the author started using F words; really: out of the blue and without any reason... My guess is that author got bored himself and used F words to provide "some spice..." I do not think I will read him again, and 3 stars is my final grade.

Historia
Finite games, like football or chess, have known players, fixed rules, and a clear endpoint. The winners and losers are easily identified. Infinite games, games with no finish line, like business or politics, or life itself, have players who come and go. The rules of an infinite game are changeable, while infinite games have no defined endpoint. There are no winners or losers - only ahead and behind. The question is, how do we play to succeed in the game we’re in? In this revelatory new audiobook, Simon Sinek offers a framework for leading with an infinite mindset.

Fascinating and Believable Theory with NO Research
Revisado: 11-04-19
IMHO the author came up with a very interesting and believable theory but didn't do hard work to investigate supporting evidence and used selective data, convenient simplifications, unsupported claims, getting completely out of expertise (going into politics as an example) was causing doubts in the truthfulness of prove.
However, learning about the theory and applying our own experiences can validate (or not) the cause and effect connection, so I am glad to have read the book and recommend it to my friends.

Uttet nonsense full of emotional energy
Revisado: 05-09-19
The author created futuristic world which doesn't make sense with people behaving strangely and unexpectedly.. That's said however, the characters are being developed very deeply and have many characteristics easily recognizable in our neighbors and friends. The story grabs you almost immediately by its emotional context making you heal for the characters and forcing you to keep reading until the very end. Looking back on the story there are similaritied with real life such as unexpected course of events, perseverance of human character, and hope which keeps us going despite difficulties and challenges.
