Historia
North America was settled by people with distinct religious, political, and ethnographic characteristics, creating regional cultures that have been at odds with one another ever since. Subsequent immigrants didn't confront or assimilate into an "American" or "Canadian" culture, but rather into one of the 11 distinct regional ones that spread over the continent each staking out mutually exclusive territory. In American Nations, Colin Woodard leads us on a journey through the history of our fractured continent....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Anyone interested in pulling back the curtain to see who we Americans are will be fascinated
What other book might you compare American Nations to and why?
Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong.
American Nations plots our origin and explains why we are as diverse today as we were at the birth of America. I believe we are more likely to survive and prosper knowing the truth about ourselves and our shared history.
What about Walter Dixon’s performance did you like?
Yes. He did a fine job. I could hear more of his work.
If you could give American Nations a new subtitle, what would it be?
Seeking to strengthen the thin thread that binds us.

Historia
This is the story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world - and did. Is he a destroyer or a liberator? Why does he fight his hardest battle not against his enemies, but against the woman he loves? Tremendous in scope, breathtaking in its suspense, Atlas Shrugged is Ayn Rand's magnum opus and launched an ideology and a movement. With the publication of this work in 1957, Rand gained an instant following and became a phenomenon.

Would you try another book from Ayn Rand and/or Christopher Hurt?
Since reading AS i've engaged in numerous conversations with those that have cited Rand's so called master piece as the template for government reform. During the conversations it becomes apparent that almost none of them have actually read the book.As a novel it had real possibilities but Rand spoils the story with her endless rants (multi-page sentences decrying the travails of society's brain trust. The parallel with 1984 is recognizable).
Would you ever listen to anything by Ayn Rand again?
No
Which character – as performed by Christopher Hurt – was your favorite?
The heroine
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It had a chance but she fails to take advantage
Any additional comments?
It makes great insomnia medicine

Historia
Dave Robicheaux returns in another Bayou adventure, this one more gruesome and gut-wrenching than any that have come before. Hurricane Katrina has ravaged New Orleans, leaving the streets and buildings flooded and the city awash with opportunists, looters, and vicious criminals. There is no order, no law. Police are shooting randomly at innocent people, prison guards have abandoned their posts, and bodies float through the streets and hang from trees.

Historia
Guy Montag was a fireman whose job it was to start fires....The system was simple. Everyone understood it. Books were for burning...along with the houses in which they were hidden. Montag enjoyed his job. He had been a fireman for 10 years, and he had never questioned the pleasure of the midnight runs, nor the joy of watching pages consumed by flames...never questioned anything until he met a 17-year-old girl who told him of a past when people were not afraid.

I do not see what all of the talk is about. I fould this one unplausible and very predictable. The main character is not the brilliant big city cop she is supposed to be. Instead, she is simply an idiot.

Very well written. Quite dark but but believable and enlightening. Like a train wreck I could'not stop watching, I could not quit this book.
